I'm finally comfortable with my car situation (Yaris DD, Miata "fun car"). Maybe it's just an incredibly long/hard winter, maybe it's boredom, maybe its the fact that the "fun car" has been off the road for almost 6 months, but my automotive ADD is kicking in. I've recently noticed that Fiesta ST's seem to be dropping dramatically in price. Like sub $18K brand new. Example: stupid cheap new Fiesta ST. I'm seeing low mile used examples in the $14K range. Thankfully, most of them seem to be black and I've permanently sworn off black cars.
EDIT: even cheaper, also black

Holy crap. And that second one is really close to me.
Even worse, I casually floated the idea by SWMBO and it wasn't immediately shot down in flames.
Here’s a new 2018 in white for $18,400: https://www.koonsfordbaltimore.com/new/Ford/2017-Ford-Fiesta-baltimore-md-431d6efc0a0e0a6b3b5b9d255a560b97.htm?searchDepth=4:6 it’s in Baltimore MD and note the dealership adds something like $800 for shipping. (Shipping to the dealership that is.) still a great deal for a new 2018.

I don't like black cars either. Too needy. So, naturally, my dailydriver is one....
the only black cars I like are Saabs. Black Saabs mean turbos, and turbos mean business. Black Saabs mean business

Black cars are more likely to be in an accident.
Had a model car replica of this as a kid and loved it despite not particularly liking Escorts or Ford for that matter.
Actually I think the above photo is a model.

I am OK with black cars. What I don't like is how the dealer quotes a price and brags about it being so far under MSRP but then they have the "disclaimer" where they add back various dealer fees without even disclosing any amounts. And this is somehow considered an acceptable practice in the car dealer world.

Always happy to help. If you buy it, I believe I reach "Superdork" on the GRM enabler board. No pressure though.

I bought my Fiesta ST last November (orange, not black) for $19k out the door. That's including the destination charge and the Recaro seats. So they can be had for cheap. And it's a really fun car to drive.
I was seeing new, leftover '17 Focus STs advertised for under $20k as well when I was car shopping a couple months back. The FiSTs seem to be a lot harder to come by locally.
As for the black car thing, I like the color on a lot of cars. What I don't like is spending all afternoon washing and waxing the car only to have it look dirty again as soon as I move it 5 feet in the driveway. I'm also 2/2 on having black cars totaled, and my dark gray FRS was hit as well <3 weeks after purchase. I'm not a superstitious man, but I think I may be done buying black and blackish cars for a while.
Hmmm. I hate keeping a black car clean, and yet, so many of my cars have been black. Including the latest purchase which I love. But, I've never had a black car in an accident (so far I've only been hit while driving a RED car, go figure...)
I saw a focus st with a rebuilt title for $6,000 with 45k miles....I'm tempted.
In reply to dculberson :
According to the add it is a 2017, probably not a huge difference.
I looked at and drove one before getting my dieselgate Jetta. Swmbo shot it down before I got home because the side impact ratings “suck”.
YMMV.

When they present those “dealer add on’s” ask to see the manager and explain you won’t be buying because of those. Then stand up and walk out,
a really gutsy sales manager will let you get as far as the door. If he’s ahead of his goal for the week you might even get to your car.
In reply to frenchyd :
The honda and VW dealers both let me walk right out the door from just that which shocked me. Kind of told me it wasn't suppose to be and my money was better spent elsewhere.
In reply to Ranger50 :
Odd, my 2011 SE got hit in the drivers door, hard. No injury to me, the car however.
If I found something like that local to me I'd be all over it.
I would have a Fiesta ST right now if all the Ford dealers in my area weren't shiny happy people on top of having only sunroof equipped cars on the lots.
