But I saw on the road today, this Mazda miata. The lines are not quite right with the car
With the driver in it just looked weird to me
It looked to small for the size of the car
Perhaps if it was a foot or 2 longer
It would looked more balanced. Windscreen forward, looks great. But the rear is all wrong.the sail panel is to steep to length
Sorry if I offended anyone.
meh. I think they look weird too. But whatever. I think a lot of cars look weird, lol.....

I will agree. I also think the new Supra needs some orthodontics work.
The great thing is that in America people like Alfaromeoguy can be so totally completely, absolutely, dumbfoundingly wrong.... and we're OK with that.
Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong. When these first came out I was filled with much “meh”. Then about two months ago it hit me like a freight train. The designers deserve a raise.
You do you, buddy. No offense taken.
Still like that shape better than the fiata turned out...
In reply to Alfaromeoguy :
I completely agree about the back.
However, I disagree that the front looks good. Way too much ugly going on up there.
The whole thing is a fail from a styling perspective.

I also agree about the back, proportions are just... off.
Then again, I didn't like the NCs when they came out, though they grew on me.

The world would be boring if we all had the same opinions and tastes.
I like it, but I agree that the scale is a bit off or something on the back third. I think it may just be that the car is tiny.
I've never seen a Miata that I liked. Then again, I've yet to see a modern roadster that I liked. It's an opinion.
The world would be a aweful boring place if we all liked the same thing.
At least it doesn't look like everything else on the road today.

I’d say the Miata is one of the most hated/misunderstood cars and also the most loved cars.
I used to make fun of them, now i want one. A NB though. The styling of the one has grown on me. Cant see ever buying one, but i kinda like it. They have always been different.
I don’t like anything about the ND. I don’t like seating position, how it looks, or how i felt like chris farley doing fat guy in a little coat while driving one
i’ll take some 1.8 NA with a hardtop though please.
I saw one in real life the other day and thought it looked pretty good. It sits up too high but it's styled well and think one in race trim would be pretty sexy

The Manic Miata is a ‘96 with a big fat 2-diagonal rollbar and Corbeau seats. I sat in an ND RF and felt instantly right at home.
I like the car, but I really believe that most people who want open top motoring would just buy the convertible. I think ones who have been begging for a Miata coupe really wanted a Miata that has something like the back hatch of an early RX-7.
With that hood length it could use an I6
I agree it can look a bit off from some angles, in some colors. Below looks great to me.
From here a bit odd, but i say compare it to any modern design, and it holds up very well. It's hard to package a 50's style retractable hardtop in a 2000 lb car (sure, that's a bit of a stretch).
Semi-related, the Challenger, one of the most widely renowned designs of recent years, looks way goofy in a lighter color from the rear.
Let's face it, a lot of modern design comes up lacking. I like both the Challenger and Miata.
The above is, of course, an opinion. We all got em, they all stink.

If Mazda ever built that...
I love the styling of the ND RF.
In reply to Furious_E :
ND RF with a naturally aspirated I6 making 280-310ish HP would be spectacular and would really wake up amateur motorsports.

This * a billion. I would strongly consider buying a new Miata (and I am someone who actually buys brand new cars) if it had a real roof (with sunroof) and a hatchback to make it look better and be more practical.
I used to not like it, but it’s grown on me. Especially when I compare it to something like the new CTR
In reply to TJL :
Yep, an NB is the only one that appeals to me.

Said the same thing to myself just the other day. The Miata had potential, but it’s got to be the ugliest one yet, especially the coupe. IIRC there was a company that produced a fastback hardtop for the Miata that was just about perfect. Right scale, reminded me of the Daytona Coupe.
I won't say the original post is wrong, but I do disagree. I've seen a few ND RFs on the road and think they really stand out. But it's somewhat like the M Coupe design in that some people love it, some hate it, but you won't mistake it for any other vehicle.
As time goes on, I find myself wanting to keep my MSM with a hardtop. The styling just looks better to my eyes.
