I was taking a break from doing some work and wandered to the magazine section of the local library and thumbed through the current issue of R&T. They had a 4 door vs 2 door comparo. They compared the Lotus Evora to the Jag XFR. Their conclusions? If you have a family the Jag is more useful, but the Lotus is better at the track. Thank god they cleared that mystery up. They are really stretching to earn those paychecks there.
Really? I never would have guessed the Lotus was decent at a track. That's astounding.
So, if you have a family, the Jag is better? I guess if you have a family and you can only afford one car, would you choose a Jag XFR or a Lotus Evora? Only enough money for one car, family, money's tight, can't afford a $3K used Camry... The new Jag or the new Lotus? Darn, that's a tough one...
Wow, next they'll be telling us a mini van hauls more groceries but a convertible allows more sun in.
I'm down to GRM, CM. and VRJ for a reason.
The Gallardo Balboni (the one with the cool stripe) is a much better grocery getter than any jag.
I'm with Alfadriver. MY R&T sub ran out and it took like 4 months to notice it. And that's only because i was on the throne and really needed some reading material.
the only reason (well there actually is a second) I still take R&T is I found an internet offer of a yrs subscription for $5 last yr... other reason is Peter Egan

I read Peter Egan... in Cycle World.
I am down to GRM, AutoWeek and 9Magazine...
GRM is obvious...I got the 10 year deal, and I plan to get another ten years when that runs out. (make sure you send me a sub renewal card when I am getting close...I don't want to miss an issue )
AutoWeek because my GF gets it for me every year for my B-day. they run a summer deal where its like 15 bucks for the year. For the 10 minutes of "eh" I get out of it per issue, I am still not sure it's worth it. I may ask for something else next year.
9Magazine...well...because I write for 9Magazine....that's why...
Just 3 years ago, I had 13 automotive magazine subscriptions.
I am seriously considering getting Hot Rod again...Frieburger is a genius.

I haven't subscribed to any car magazine except GRM since, well, since about 1995. I occasionally pick up a single issue of evo at the newsstand. C/D and R&T are strictly dentist office fodder.
GRM and CM. That's all I need.
GRM, CM, Import Tuner, and Modified Mag for me.
My subscriptions are in constant flux:
- GRM (just re-upped for another year, I like my t-shirts!)
- Hot Rod (Freiburger)
- Car Craft (AMC project car)
- Hemmings Muscle Machines (great muscle car resource)
- Popular Hot Rodding (just started again, because the Javelin will be Pro-Touring)
- Panorama & Anzheiger (National & local PCA magazines, put the SCCA rags to shame)
Just let run out:
- Car & Driver: Had a $5 deal for a year, and it wasn't worth it.
- Sportscar & Loud Pedal: Wasn't getting the bang-for-my-buck out of the SCCA and their magazines aren't very good IMO.
Will news stand one now and again:
- CM: I'd love to subscribe, but I feel a majority of the content is not for me still, though it has gotten better over the last few years, likely as I appreciate it more.
- Scale Auto Enthusiast & Fine Scale Modeler: Hey, I still play with small ones!
GRM for me
Southern Living and Penthouse for the wife.
I dropped my Hemmings and Car and Driver.
Meh. If you have a family a mini-van is even better. But keep an MR2 around for fun. I'm in love with my MR2 today after I laid down a blistering run and nailed a crushing E Stock win. But mini-vans can carry a lot of wheels and tires AND the family!
Magazine wise, I'm down to GRM and Sports Car.

Am I the only one that noticed this?
(You know, I have a theory that every woman in the world is at least 12% lesbian...say what you will, I have yet to disprove it.)
No subscriptions for me. I pick up GRM, Mother Earth News, Home Power and whatever else that catches my eye at the bookstore during my bimonthly visit. R&T and the like are a waste of time.
I have GRM, and a couple of brit magazines for the BMW and classic tin fetish. Performance BMW (less a dry read than Bimmer) and Retro Cars

Home Power any good? I picked up one copy a few years ago that had how to make your own diesel. Thought it was neat

All I can say is "Happy Wife, Happy Life."

While I obviously dislike R&T, I regularly read GRM and CM, Classic & Sports Car (anyone read their profile on group B rally car classics?), retro cars, Practical classics, Project Car Magazine, and Japanese Nostalgic Car. Top Gear Mag, Evo, and Car as well on occasion
I have a subscription to CM and GRM and regularly pick up Racecar Engineering, Race Tech, Retro Car (when I can find it) and Motorcycle Classics.
Another vote for Retro Cars here. Not as slick as the other unity media mags. The variety of cars is amazing. The same issue can have a 60's beetle, an 80's hot hatch, a 70's muscle car and a hotted up triumph herald or morris minor.
I tried Top Gear mag but got really bored with all the super car stuff.
GRM and Expedition Journal for me. I still have dreams of touring the world in a Camel Trophy Truck. Expedition Journal is worth it even if you are not a adventurer just for the pics.
