One of these cars has a vastly superior rear view from the drivers seat.
The other is so bad it requires a back up camera.
Even with that absoludicrous air cleaner on a riser you can see more through the mail slot on the Pantera than you can through the Mercedes. Between the angle of the glass and the enormous head rests it is pretty much useless.
This is just my baffling realization for this morning

but your gumbinment and your ins co wants you to be protected .. so between them they've made you less safe … though more protected …
hum … wait … how can that be ?
I think the rear glass is like that because of the back-up camera. It lets them put big comfy headrests in the rear and make a super-aerodynamic rear shape by almost turning it into a sunroof.
Got any more pics of the Pantera?
I'll bet there wouldn't be any rear headrests in the Mercedes if it was a two seater.
One of them looks like that because of First Rule of Italian Driving: what is behind me is not a concern.
There are plenty of vehicles you can't see out the back of at all and somehow people manage.
All Honda fits. With headrests up its like looking through a porthole on a submarine.... Ironically, I've nearly killed ppl due to the massive A pillars instead.
I drove a friend's 2015 Wrangler last weekend and was amazed how little I could see in the rear view mirror.

my Disco has three headrests across the back. When you raise the armrest in the centre of the back seat, the headrest goes up too. I really really really hate it up

This is true but there's still some more styling related things leaving a lot of visibility on the table, like the huge C pillars.

I removed the rear "seat" headrests in my F150 for that very reason. Since I don't have any friends, it works out fine.

At least you don't drive it very much.
(Ducks and runs while explaining that his favorite off-road in vehicle ever is a Disco and he wants one soooo badly.)
hee.. now that the engine and cooling system is all tip top shape.. I drive my Disco daily.. as it IS my DD
In reply to Jumper K. Balls:
Your answer was irrelevant, I'd have chosen the Pantera regardless...and yes, I've driven one before and understand its flaws.
I agree too. Pantera wins hands down

Not to hijack thread but...
I seriously debated posting that earlier. If there's one guy here that shares your love for Discoveries and doesn't think he can live out his life without at least owning one, it's me.
I hope you have a great run with it.
