So, I've decided that it's time to throw money at a problem.

The problem is that my duster, which usually starts and sort of idles on megasquirt, has interference issues and needs tuned. Ive been struggling for a year now, and am frankly fed up with it all. I just want the berkeleying thing running and driving correctly and reliably.

Im close to Charlotte nc. Need a good shop. 42 autosports is the only place that I know of that touches megasquirt. Im hoping to keep the bill under 2k.

Could you work with someone remotely via Skype or Facetime?

Or even tune via VNC or GoToMeeting on your laptop.

That might be an option for you if you can't find a shop, etc. locally.

DIYAutoTune.com might know someone that works locally.

You could also hit the MSExtra Forums to see if anyone is local to help out.

Id actually be willing to trailer the car a ways for a good shop. So, say around a 5 or so hour radius from Charlotte?

To be blunt, at this point i want to drop it off, write a check, and drive it home.

I know HPTautosport here in Asheville does though they are a Honda focused shop.

Carolina auto Masters in durham

Pro Dyno in ft.mill, SC does I think.

Motion Lab in Charlotte might do megasquirt

DIYAutoTune itself is only 4 hours from Charlotte on Gainsville, Ga

Does diy do trouble shooting and tuning? I'll drop it off next week if so.

Unfortunately, we don't have the manpower to work on customer cars at this time. Wes Kiser - a guy who used to work for Roush-Yates and has been into MegaSquirt for a decade - is in your area though. He doesn't have a website, but if you email me your contact info, I can pass it on to Wes.

Carolina Auto Masters are no longer in Durham. They’re in Burlington, so closer to you now.

I nearly went this route after the rash of weird issues my Miata threw at me last weekend. No shame in knowing when you are in over your head. Fortunately a little brainstorming helped me realize that my intake manifold was now electrically isolated and my two grounds bolted to the manifold weren't grounding. Hoping yours is something equally silly

I would recommend Scott Clark at Realtuners.com. He was able to get my LT1 through that initial hard setup phase and teach me enough to keep going on my own. He remote tunes through your laptop and was able to help me with some wiring issues as well. My cost was for 2 hours of his time about $250.

One thing that came up that is different than the DIYautotune instructions for wiring that he spotted right way through the guages on the laptop is the signal grounds were grounded to the block. This proved to be a big mistake. The signal grounds for all of your sensors need to be grounded only to the signal ground wire on the ECU. All of the other ground wires from the ecu should go straight back to the battery, do not mix them with other ground wires before the battery. These two things cleaned up the signals to the ecu and made it so the tune would be stable.

Not sure what you have tried before and I am by not means an expert, just wanted to share my experience, and maybe help keep a few $ in your pocket.

I appreciate it!

Hopefully it's something stupid ive missed. But at this point im using some of the money from the totalling of the elky to get this thing done. Since that concussion, ive really struggled with relearning megasquirt to finish. Having my car back is more important than the money in the gun safe at this point in time.  My daughter hasn't ridden in it since preschool.

Thanks! Its my all time favorite car. Ive chased the joy of that car through a bunch of others while it's sat. When i think about it, ive been a berkeleying IDIOT for not finishing it sooner and instead building different cars chasing the same emotions and feel.
