Recommedations for brake pads

Looks like I need to replace the rotors and front pads on my 99 4runner over Christmas holidays. Can't stand the warped rotors any more. I know I am going to use Brembo rotors, but cannot decide on which pads. Anybody have a prefered product they really like?. This is a 2wd 4runner used mainly for tooling around. I occaisionally tow a camping trailer a short distance.

Hawke HPS

I put the truck/ suv pads from hawk on my truck. They have been great. All of the stop you could want without any of the issues I had with the HPSs on the Audi.

Edit to add I used teh KVR pads and rotors on my G1500 and it was fantastic as well. It would run through the mountains with my rally car on the trailer with 5 guys and a ton of gear and never faded. They where a fair strech more expensive than the hawks. If the truck only had 2 wheel disks like the van they would have been on the truck as well.

I love the HPS on my sportscars... but I don't think I'd want them on a truck. Too noisy and messy. The extra bite isn't really needed on a truck either.

No issues with noise or dust in more than 10k miles with the hawk pads. It is a different compound than the HPSs. IIRC they are called LTS. I wouldn't want the blues or blacks on a truck either.

Performance Frictions are great for daily driving. They bite excellent from cold, no noise, and great feel. They also stop better then even the highest-end parts-store special. I have em on the P71 and they work great, even on trackdays.

The best bargain I've found hands down is the Quiet Stop pads. They are cheap, they come with a pre-installed anti-squeal plate, they are super low dust, and they take the heat in my 96 Impala SS with some occasional autocrossing.

Really nice. I like 'em.

I had these pads on my 4x4 ranger. After a highspeed seperation of the pad and backing plate, I will never purchase them again. 75mph down an off ramp and no brakes........................................................................................................................................ pucker w0000.

I use OEM pads on my transportation appliances.

I use new el-cheapo-lifetime warranty rotors from the auto parts store. On my 86 RN5 Truck, I put green "performance" pads or premium or something like that from Autozone on. Lifetime warranty. They work really well for towing and I had no issues slowing the Truck and 5K lbs of trailer going down the mountains of California. I was very glad I didn't have OEM pads on right about then. I avoided the Grapevine, but hit hills just about as bad during the process.

I had OEM Toyota pads on the front of the Esprit. Never again for that. I'd get like 3 stops from 100 and then nothing at all, as in, gosh, here comes a turn and I have no slowing down force regardless of how firm the pedal is and how hard I press. I have EBC yellowstuff all around on there now and have had no fade at all.

I do too on most of my other vehicles (all Nissans), but 4runners are notorius for warping the rotors. So I'm looking for an upgrade.

Thanks for all the feedback. I've looked for a local store, but nobody has both items. Tire Rack is cheapest, but the shipping adds $$.

Yeah, my Truck rotors warped at only a quarter million miles. They just don't make stuff like they used to. I think I put in JC Whitney sourced rotors at like $19 each.
