Hi,. My Civic blew a head gasket and I'm trying to track down a new gasket and head bolts. Autozone and OReilly don't carry them, and I haven't bought off ebay in years. I find Advanced/Discount parts suspect, so does anyone have a recommendation for a supplier of Honda parts? Thanks.

I've had good luck with Rock Auto. Their customer support is very good, and they usually have a wide selection of brands.

Majestic Honda usually has pretty good prices: http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/

edit: have you checked with the local Honda dealer to see what the parts will cost there?

Another vote for Majestic Honda.

Thanks guys, I'll check them both out. Yep, called the dealer parts dept. First question I got was "You gonna need all the bolts or just some of them?" Am I totally crazy to think these are usually changed as a set? Then I told him it was a d16y7 motor. "That a 2dr. y7 or a 4dr y7?" Huh? Eventually I found out that they don't carry it (obviously not enough of these on the road to warrant keeping them in stock) and if I reeaalllyyy wanted him to order them, it would be $16 per bolt, and $82 for the gasket, and yeah, "don't forget, we charge tax."

So again guys, thanks for the help and thank god for GRM,

Do the head bolts have to be replaced? I did a quick search online and it sounds like at least some Hondas have reusable head bolts.

Unless it's got an oddball engine, I'd imagine AutoZone and O'Reilly's would be able to get them.

When I had my local Honda/Acura only shop (great guys BTW) do the head gasket on my d16y7 in my 2000 sedan I don't believe they replaced the bolts (long time ago, can't remember exactly, but I think I wouldve noticed at the time the cost of the bolts showing up on the receipt). Didn't have any issues during the time I owned it after that.

That was a great car, wish it didn't become the victim of a Mustang T-bone. Comfy, fun-for-an-economy-sedan handling, I could always get 35-mpg or more in mixed driving, and best cupholders EVAR.

headbolts for honda motors are surprisingly hard to find for god knows what reason. felpro as well as the rest of the aftermarket suppliers dont make them. majestic honda has some of the best prices on them. then again i have cheated and reused them a few times on different builds.

You'll find a lot of people saying you can't reuse head bolts on a Honda, but you'll also find just as many people (like myself) that have reused head bolts on a Honda D-series with no ill effects. If there's no boost involved, you'll be fine.

Really? Wow, I learn something new all the time on this message board. So do you guys usually slap on a new head gasket and tighten it up? Not joking, as that works on Minis all the time. I've not done this before with a Honda, so I planned on having the head checked for warpage once it's all apart. I might also change the timing belt, tensioner, and water pump if funds allow since it's coming up on the service interval.
