My tools are a compilation from years of new and used, mostly craftsman with some kobalt and HF stuff more recently. The issue that I'm trying to solve is how to compactly tote a basic set around. I like the idea of a blow molded case with a set that I can throw in the trunk for trips, junkyard runs, taking to autocross, etc.
Since it's a 20% off day at ebay, good chance to pick up something. Recommendations?
Here's some other sale options. Any opinions on Dewalt hand tools? I've had great luck with their power tools.

I keep the $30 Harbor Freight tool set in my motor home and have found it to be pretty competent for basic stuff.
When I saw the title I came in to post the Dewalt option. It doesn't get much more comprehensive or compact for what you're wanting to do.
This harbor freight set
Thin, lightweight case that everything snap fits into, easily fits a miata trunk or a red wagon let alone anything else. Can also usually find a coupon to get it for $100.
I have a collection of HF, craftsman and other tools in a electricians backpack. Hell I even modified a jack for junkyard use strapped to it.

I've been bagging my tools since I bought the Miata, since five gallon buckets won't fit in the trunk.
The sockets fall off the rails, etc. The case for keeping me organized plus being able to grab a box and go is my motivation.
I noticed that the HF set has some wire cutter, pliers, crecent wrench. Always need a few other things, like a breaker bar and the four foot pipe for the junkyard runs.
A tool roll might be helpful as long as you don’t plan on bringing everything with you.
In response to "any opinions on Dewalt hand tools," I bought a handful of their combination wrenches, and they have all been serviceable but not inspiring.
