I want to make my own headlight wiring for the xj in preparation for an ecode conversion. What gauge wire would be best, an what size relay? Also, where do I buy the light socket with no pigtail, as it's usually 18 gauge wire, and I plan to go a bit bigger gauge.

Also, should I do the same with the Miata, where would I tie into at? The battery is in the trunk...

junkyards are full of cars that can donate these kinds of electrical plugs for pennies.. you just need to remove the existing wires- which usually involves a small flat blade screwdriver inserted from the front to release the tang so you can pull the terminal out from the rear..
