Every time I try to work on a VW it just makes me hate them even more lol. But anyway, I need a set of MK3 rear calipers to use to convert my sisters golf syncro to disc brakes instead of the barely working and difficult to find parts for rear drums. But, I cant figure out how the e-brake cable comes off of the caliper. It looks like its crimped into a bracket bolted to the caliper, but I couldnt get the cable out of the bracket or the bracket off of the caliper when I was at the junkyard today. Does anyone here know an easy way to do it? I guess I could always just cut the cables, but I don't like to ruin parts just because I cant figure out how they work, especially when I will have to figure it out later with parts I actually want to keep anyway lol.

It's just kind of hooked in there. You should be able to loosen the cable all the way at the parking brake lever, then once it's slacked you should be able to pull the ball out of that bracket/arm thingy. Sometimes it's tight and you still have to turn the arm a little with a screw driver to get enough slack to get it out of there.

You don't want to cut th ecables.. Because you need them...

Hmm, maybe someone had messed with the one I was looking at, because the hook on the caliper would have to have been unbent to get the cable out. I ordered new cables for a mk2 golf with disc brakes since they are cheap anyway.
