Ok, here's one I've never had to do......

How does one go about removing header coating? This is for a reworking of the primary lengths. I'd like to then recoat them.

Is this doable?

You should be able to do it with an agressive media in a blast cabinet. Depending on the coating you may only have to remaove the coating where you need to wels and then re-coat.

What coating is it? Paint, Jet Hot, Ceramic?

I would suggest media blast or chemical depending on what it is.

It's HPC ceramic coating. Pretty good stuff.

Does "shotgun" count as media-blast? It's sort of the same concept, right???

I've striped paint and de-rusted allsorts of stuff using electrolosis but not sure if it would lift ceramic.

I've sandblasted chrome off with a little hand held siphon sand blaster. Not a fun task, but it will work. Eventually.

i'd call HPC and ask them what they recommend.

What coating are you planning on putting back on the header? Swain tech perhaps?

Yeah, swain tech is one of the nicer companies to deal with. If they only weren't so damn expensive..
