My Civic has some paint damage to the front and rear bumpers and mirrors that I would really like to repair. Is there an easy way to do this without busting out a full out spray gun setup? Also how do those automotive paint pens work on repairing very small nicks in the paint?
What do you mean paint damage? Could you post a picture? Also what color is your civic?
We had an outfit local to Altanta that wouls come and respray the rock chips on the fron of trade ins at the Mercedes dealer. They looked pretty good when done. Unfortunatly I dont know the steps they used. Maybe there is a simmilar company in your area?
Clicky linky for the outfit in Agusta GA. http://www.flyingcolorsofaugusta.com/scratches.htm
I will post a picture later tonight and the Civic is black.
Black Sharpie.
(Sorry, couldn't help it.)
it its just a couple of paint chips, you could get away with one of those color paint pens, from the dealer. But if its bad a respray would be in order, with a double or triple layer of clear coat, to protect the finish. Have you considered a nose mask/bra for your civic? The factory ones actually look quite nice, and it hides the work you need to get done. Best left to a shop to color match the paint for the front bumper respray though. The only downside being is that your front bumper is going to look great, and the rest of your car depending on how it is might not look as nice.
I've used an air brush for touch up and building up chips and scratches then wet sand and polish out.
