Hey everyone. So with my mind on a few future plans for my projects, I know that eventually I will need to source engines/transmissions. For those of you in the Northeast, where do you typically purchase your engines and transmissions? Any reputable suppliers? I'm located in PA outside of Philly, but I am willing to drive up to 5 hours to pick up an engine/tranny from somewhere reputable. Thanks!

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I would be looking for Japanese engines mostly (Honda K/B/D, Mazda BP, Toyota JZ, etc), and a mix of Japanese/BMW getrag trannys.

Just wanted to bring this back up from the dead since I am inching closer to looking into sourcing a Honda K24A2 engine. I'm trying to avoid FB Marketplace and would like to hopefully find a reputable source that I can have a bit more confidence in what I'm buying. Not sure if that is even a possibility though.

I just use car-part.com, and have had good luck with both engines and transmissions, including a K24A2

Ah okay thanks good to hear you had good luck just looking on there. Any tips on what to look at when going to see an engine? Not sure exactly how to inspect one to make sure its good when you cant see and hear it running.

In reply to Sonic :

I can never get replies when I inquire about the parts I want.

I just call them if I want to talk about anything or to setup a pickup time.  Most junkyards aren't great at customer service or technology.

For finding a good one, aside from mileage, look at the pictures.   If the car was obviously in motion when crashed, the driveline probably works OK.  If the car looks trashed inside and out, the mechanicals probably are too.  Look for something that shows a modest amount of caring.

Thanks! I'll keep an eye on trying to determine what happened to the car that it ended up there.
