Update: Everything went back together, battery in, STARTS!!

Bad news: a chunk of the head where the exhaust cam seals sits had a chunk missing when i took the cam out. 3 little crumbled pieces came out when i took the upper cam cover off. Well, i thought i could hopefully get around it with a new seal in, sealed up. Didnt work. At idle, oil was getting around that seal and dripping down the block and water pump, ect. So, needs a new head or jimmy-rigging of JB Weld on the exsisting head.

So bummed and depressed that i got everything back together and it starts and idles fine, but pukes oil. Oh well, gotta start ripping it apart again...

I'd try the JB weld first. Really clean the area and goop that stuff on. It may take a few layers.

There might be something other than JB weld that holds it's shape better. When you try and goop JB weld into a large area it tends to run.

I'd finish off the area with a few layers of RTV.

Not the proper way to do it but crazier things have worked on this board.

Yes there is, it's called regular weld. Just weld a glob on there and machine the rest off - no RTV or other gobblty gook.
