Resetting Volvo Service Light.

So the service light is on in my Volvo V70. The manual says it comes on about every 7500 miles to remind you to take it in for service.

How do I reset the light so it will be off for another 7500 miles?

You check over at turbobricks.com? My 940 has a rubber plug in the I/P that you remove to access a button (like on a clock, you use a pencil tip to push it) that you hold in with the key on to reset it.

Depends on what year it is.

IIRC '98 (as well as '96-'97 850s) can only be reset with expensive diagnostic equipment. Some claim various OBD-II scanners will do it but others disagree. '99 on can be done without tools by following a sequence of steps from the cockpit.

My local independent Volvo shop does it for me for free on my '96 and I throw him a bone once in a while and have him do some work on the car.

My wife's car is a '99 S70. You can reset the light by holding the trip odometer reset button, turn on ignition while continuing to hold the reset button for 10 seconds or so. The service light will flash and then turn off. From there I start the engine and then shut it off again. It should be reset now.
