I was putting my A3 Jetta back together after a heater core replacement and came up with the novel idea of leaving the center consol out. Get a retro shift boot and a retro cover for the parking brake and go clean and simple!
Um, where do I put my phone?

I'm getting to where I don't like armrests at all anymore. They all seem too high and hurt my shoulder.

Can't be that hard to find or fabricate a phone mount that would work, could it?

Don't be silly. I can't use it there.

I test drove a car once, push button start. It was the first time I'd driven one and I said to the owner, while fumbling with the key fob, they really need a place for you put this. He looked at me like I was an idiot and said... like in your pocket?

This year I bought my first car with central locking, also push button and proximity locking. It took a lot of getting used to. I didn't know what to do with that key. Now I love the fact that I'm not fumbling with my keys all the time carrying stuff to the car or whatnot. I'm really excited to try it in snow season.

I have at least one of the poverty spec rabbit shifter trays laying around. I bet it would pretty much fit

I'd be more okay with those fob things if they didn't make them so big, it's like carrying a log around in your pocket. In these days of miniaturization you'd think they could make them smaller.

And that's it.
I don't like carrying anything in my pockets, and I especially don't like carrying something as bulky and square edged as those things. That's one thing I really didn't like about my Forte, that stupid push button start.
If you are going back to push button start, you need to put it on the floor where it belongs.
Dash mount for the phone. Some of them mount into vents. Or suction to the windshield. There is an answer. I'm also pretty stoked on my wireless charging Quadlock. No more fussing with wires and I'm always topping up my phone in the car.
I hate the size of key fobs, and the things they do once you manage to ignore them. I forget to take mine out of my pocket and frequently find the Mini unlocked. Last week I'd managed to roll down all four windows and open the sunroof, 'cause for some insane reason that's the behavior when you hold down one of the buttons (or sit on the couch with it lodged against some keys in your pocket).

Old pick up trucks had the starter "button" on the floor next to the clutch pedal
I bet the kids today could not figure out how to steal that truck !
