Is it possible to revolve any kind of Bilstein? I was told by someone locally that only the threaded bodies one cans be done. I’m looking at these as a budget holdover until I can get some MCS shocks. They would need to be valves to hold 7.5kg/mm springs in the front and 4.5-5kg/mm in the rear.

I would call the Bilstein service center and ask, as long as the bodies don't have the crimped tops they should be rebuildable. They are helpful if a bit slow on the turnaround for rebuilding.

Do you already have the springs and mounts you plan to use? 

 

I'm just thinking by the time you buy the Bilsteins, mounts, and springs...........you just spent 1/3 of a set of MCS and now you're that much further away from buying you want.

Saving up and buying what you want in the first is place is always cheaper than buying a holdover while you save.

already have the fronts. Rears will need the mounts and springs. It’s possible to just change the rear over as well I guess and run the KyBs until money allows big boy shocks.

Valving will add another $500+ to the cost.

I had some custom matched to my spring rate and rebuilt for ~100 each.  They were awesome in terms of service and came with shock dynos.  I think a straight rebuild was more like ~50 each.

I can check receipts if you like but I remember it being a couple weeks.  The shop is in Cali - drop them a line.  They were good Motorsports gearheads.

On my Mazda autocross cars I've had Bilstein sports, Fatcat revalves and now MCS singles. In retrospect, I would skip the revalves stick with stock Bilsteins, and have expert setup/alignment help.  Get MCS when I can afford it along with more set up/alignment expert help.

I've sent Bilsteins back to their service center in San Diego and they've rebuilt/revalved them for me no sweat.  Time it takes is dependent on what time of year it is as they support all sorts of racers...
