My buddy had what was a stock 1992 Supra. After he blew a hole through the oil pan (or something), daddy replaced the engine with a 2JZ-GTE and the body stayed stock. It was fun to play in and would confuse the crowds, but he wrecked it within a week or so.
I know of a guy who's done exactly this...he made a hilarious wing and hood scoop from sheet metal, stuck them on an EP70 Starlet which is actually a very quick boosted street dragger. That's the kind of trick that only works once though.

I've actually had this EXACT discussion a number of times with friends of mine, as well as what would be the ideal chassis. You'd think a Honda Civic would be perfect, because everyone riced those. The problem is, Civics can actually BE fast. So you don't wanna do that or you're outed right away. You need something hilarious with a lot of secret potential.... I keep thinking Hyundai Excel 4 door done up like a ghetto version of Jesse's Jetta from FNF1, with a 4g63 swap.

Kia Sephia with a GTX awd setup and a turbo'd to hell and back BP.
Its was pretty much a decade old escort when it was new anyways.

Driveline won't hold up long enough to be fast.
You'd need an AllTrac driveline in that thing.

SADLY, if I didn't have a bumper dumper freshly installed by SF1 and JamesMcD- my mx6 would be damn near perfect.
The perfect car is a Chevy Cavalier.

This is an excellent choice.

I haven't cut your bumper yet....
Honestly, though... before i stickered the hell out of my car, not one person gave it a second glance.
For that matter, most people still don't. And it just sounds broken, not fast.

Demand you explain yourself.
The earlier ones that were available with the V6 are quite easy to make hilariously quick, and NOBODY, and i mean NOBODY will see it coming.
Stick on every Autozone Buick porthole chrome vent you can find and have a blast.

IDK about these guys, but theres a RWD swapped cavi out here.......Cavi's are well known for being overzealously riced out(like 5x worse than civics) and never being fast(nobody messes with the box ones here)

If you go down to Columbus, IN to hit up Cars 'n' Parts Insurance salvage yard, in their office they have pictures of about 5 different tubbed RWD Cavaliers pulling wheelies on their office walls.

I did used to work with a guy who had a 3800 s/c swapped into his 5sp boxy beretta.........it was about as fast as the redline.....so I'm guessing it was a stock 3.8.

Problem is, I'm connected enough that once that car lands here, word's gonna get out FAST and I won't be able to troll anyone. The Evo I wanted to run got balled up at BIR back in September... so he's out.

The thing is... you can tell guys all day that it makes 300whp. It ain't gonna move like any 300whp car they've ever seen, i'll tell you that much.
Ask Yamaha, he's been in my car a few times, and i don't think he's ever been in it when it was making more than maybe 200-225whp. It's a violent physics-bending sumbitch.
The last couple years of the Cavy got the Eco-tech. I would think swapping in the Turbo cobalt SS motor would be pretty easy.

You can, but what would be the point....you could just put a turbo on the stock ecotec until it blows.
Same difference. Making 300whp in a cavy with a non-paint matched body kit would be fun.
EDIT: And don't forget the fart can.
Bonus points for being the worst sounding motor ever created. Seriously. Nothing sounds worse than a Supercharged SS. Don't know if the turbos are any better.

They kinda sound like poorly built subarus. I've heard worse.
