Hey guys. I'm leaving today to South Bend, Indiana to ride along with Andy Hollis. He's taking his CRX on another trip of the Tire Rack One Lap of America, and I'm gonna be crammed in there with him. His wife, Ann, is taking a year off from that event.
Watch this thread for updates; I'll be posting pictures and updates here as often as I can while I'm on the road. This is my first One Lap, so it should be a great experience. I'll try and fill you in on all the dirty details. I have a feeling it's going to be a crazy week.

We expect more pictures than updates....it's difficult to write coherently when you only have one hour of sleep in the last two days.
suuuuper excited for the updates!
are we there yet are we there yet are we there yet....

you lucky, lucky bastard
That's funny, my reaction was the exact opposite. All the worst parts of the One Lap - mind-numbing interstate travel in a track car with no sleep - and no on-track time!
with Andy Hollis you have got come away a better driver
I'll be sure to harass you at Hallett.
Best grandstands for viewing are Turn 9 "The Bitch" and Turn 4.
If you pass through the Raleigh, NC area and want a beer, let me know.
My advice is to sleep whenever and wherever you can. Start now, you'll need it.
Update: Alan is now on a plane en route to South Bend.
Touched down at ATL to find my connecting flight is an hour delayed. The hotel shuttle won't be running by the time I land, but Brock Yates is super friendly. He's gonna pick me up.
If any of you have flown DAB -> ATL, you know how powerful those Delta MD88s are. It takes off like a rocket. Fun ride, for a passenger plane.
I keep hearing about this lack of sleep; I'm already well acquainted with Red Bull and 5-Hour Energy thanks to the Rolex 24. I gather this is like that, times seven?
as the transit driver you have some long drives ahead of ya ... yeah ... sleep when you can
good luck, sounds like an incredibly badass time
Have fun.
Take pictures.
Report back.
Badass looking Honda Odyssey in the parking lot, on a trailer. Looks like Enkeis over Brembos, Brock says it's turbocharged. Will try and get details and a photo for you guys and gals in the a.m.
Also: Brock drove here from Philly in an older Scooby Rex wagon. His alternative to a minivan.
The One Lap crew just posted some video, too: http://youtu.be/ZLcqlggyXUo
Alan, seek out Nick Young. He's driving the boring parts for Scott B in the blue Corvette C5. He drove nothing but transit last year and can probably give you tips. They are my hometown heroes, typically doing pretty well in a car that is mostly stock against some high dollar machinery.

Passing through Missouri?

Iggy? Was Ignorant a staff member alter ego all along?
Just a heads up-can't hear the voice over the music very well in the video.
Yeah, the volumes are low. We didn't produce that video. I'm just passing along the link.
In reply to David S. Wallens:
Gotcha. I look forward to more.
Here's that minivan:

400 hp turbo v6, stripped to 3200 lbs.
There are also 3 chevy hhr ss here, which surprised me.
