Bruce Meyers has passed at the age of 94.  Thought this should be in the Motorsports forum rather than the off-topic.  Creator of the Meyers Manx and Meyers Tow'd.  A true innovator in the sport.  You could build a Manx to do anything, I knew a guy back in the early '70s who built one as a sports car - lowered pan, Koni shocks, suspension set up like a Formula Vee, Corvair engine, short windshield, the whole thing was around 36 tall to the top of the windshield IIRC.  He bought the body from Sears (yes, Sears sold them through the catalog for a while).  Fortunately the Manx lives on (see current CM).

NOTE:  posted this before I noticed David's post on the CM forum, but it should still be noted here, too.

That man made off roading affordable,  and most importantly, fun for countless people.

The real story is how Super VW magazine in France re-invented Bruce and his Dune Buggy,

Bruce had another set of body molds made for France and he often went to the big summer show ,

This would have been the late 1980s-early 90s , it became a very big thing in Europe at that time ,

and then there is the one prototype Fiberglass Kubelwagen that Dave Deal ended up with .......

and in the future is the VW built EV buggy...

RIP Bruce

I know, sad news. You can read a bit more about the legend behind the dune buggy over at Classic Motorsports

"Bruce and Winnie would eventually come back, though, and relaunch a new dune buggy company: Meyers Manx, Inc. Just this past December, that company was sold to Trousdale Ventures; Automotive designer Freeman Thomas was named CEO and COO."

Freeman Thomas  designed the New Beetle , Audi TT  and others ,  Nice guy  and I  bet he has some neat ideas for a new dune buggy design ,

I've spent many miles bouncing around the Nevada desert in one of his creations. RIP Mr Meyers.

I think it is a newer version of it but the one with a wrx motor looks like a fun ride.

RIP Bruce. You were a true pioneer!

I can still remember seeing a Meyers Manx for the first time on the cover of my dad's Popular Science magazine back in 1967, and have wanted one ever since.
