So I've got one of these generic ones from Summit Racing. Problem is every time I spin off the oil filter, the center stud that the oil filter spins onto comes off too.

That creates lots of sweating as I remove it from the old oil filter without screwing up the threads, then try to thread it back onto the mount securely.

What other remote oil filter mounts have you guys used that secure that stud with a nut, or it's more securely mounted?

Locktite

Even just thread sealant would do.

I use the Derale unit.

I used some red loctite when I installed it and haven't had it come out yet. Red loctite holds up to 300F so it shouldn't fail.

Ok, so I imagine that means trying to clean the oil out of the threads on the body of the mount, putting on the loctite, threading it in as far as it'll go, then allowing it to dry before I mount the oil filter and run oil through it again, correct?

If the locktite fails, there is a plumbing tool that is design to go inside nipples to unscrew them. It's used on short nipples so you don't bugger up the threads. I think it's called a nipple extractor.

I used one from a S-10 blazer: takes a 3980 filter available anywhere. I just tapped and threaded in bungs to attach hose, but GM put a gasket-bolt on fitting if you want to make hoses.

it's hemi-race orange and in the upper right

Perhaps "stake" some of the threads which go into the mount, combined with loc-tite?

Yup, just clean well. I usually clean the thread nipple with brake clean then red loctite and let set five minutes. Should be a long time before you have to worry about it again.
