My uncle and I have been considering attending the SCCA Runoffs this year at Road America. He used to race a TR4 (this one, actually) and we both love everything about the Runoffs. I've never been to that area of the world before and would love some recommendations for good hotels/lodging in the area. Also, is there any benefit to staying in Plymouth vs Elkhart Lake vs towns slightly farther away?
To really have the RA experience you should stay in Elkhart lake. That means Siebkens or the Osthoff. Siebkens is a little more homey northwoods expereince. The osthoff is nicer imo. Pylmouth is gross. If you want to stay somewhere cheap, go to the outskirts of Sheboygan. Its not a long ride to RA and less than half the price of staying in town. Only ever heard horrible things about the hotels in Plymouth.
Siebkens! But I would be shocked if it wasn't sold out for the Runoffs.
Best bet is Sheboygan I would imagine.
Hey,
A buddy and I stayed in Manitowoc for the Vintage races.
It was good. Not too long of a drive.

My thoughts. Might be too late to get a place close to RA.
Summerfest in Milwaukee this weekend. Might be busy here too.
On my trips to RA for the BRIC we stayed at a crappy motel about 10-20 minutes from the track. The up side was the corner bar where we had surf and turf, drinks, played pool all night and the tab was $25. Teenagers were running the bar that night for the owner, absolutely no clue what they were doing. We told them how to make drinks and how much to pour.

If you aren't staying at seibkins, are you really going to RA?
As a complete aside, the Piggly Wiggly in Plymouth has a really solid bourbon availability. Not sure why, but they do. My brother lives in EL, and has taken me there multiple times during my visits over the past few years. Manitowoc, if you choose to look there, is ~ 45 minutes away using the Hwy 151 to Hwy 67 route. While these are two lane highways, they are in great condition, and allow reasonably rapid transit to the track. Manitowoc has a decent brewery also called Pet Skull if you're into that sort of thing.
For a real taste of the Road America / Elkhart Lake experience... go for dinner at Schwarz's Supper Club in St. Anna. It's a dining experience you can't have anywhere but central Wisconsin. Family run for over 67 years. Well worth the drive from Elkhart Lake.

Not sure why the dissing of Plymouth, we've stayed in/around a number of times and it's OK but not ideal. I agree that if you can get into EL it's the best bet.
Edit: the Plymouth Baymont is a pretty good second tier choice.

Just reporting what I've heard from numerous people after attending events up there.
I'm looking at a one-day HPDE in August and probably gonna end up at the Fairfield in Sheboygan thanks to Marriott points.

Thanks for the recommendation. We'll try to hit Schwarz's, or one of the other Supper Clubs in the area. Looks like there are a few to choose from.
We're booked! Flying into MKE on the 3rd, staying near Sheboygan Thursday night (Elkhart Lake booked solid), and booked a cabin at the track for the weekend. Plan to hit a supper club (or two) and explore Elkhart Lake bars and restaurants for post-racing energy. Flying out on Monday.
Anyone else going to be there?
I'm going to pile on and say try Siebkens before anything else. Siebkens is really a bar with a hotel attached... Ive stayed there once and the energy is great. When we arrived at midnight there was a hand-written note on the desk to come to the bar to get our keys.
