The Suba-ute was a more finished car, but it looks like they had a bigger crew to build it and a better work space. And I think the RK project of stuffing that big block into the Impala required more time than they anticipated.

Either way, the final results were entertaining.

The two part (MCM and RK videos) series was great. I know it's true RK fashion to have an incomplete car, but no alternator, headlights, or seatbelts was pretty crappy. I like Marty and Moog, don't try to kill them!

It was entertaining to watch and can't wait until RK makes it to Australia

Yeah, entertaining, but I gotta say, huge crew or not, the MCM guys were much more interested in building a car you could drive. AC, radio, back window to keep the dust down, etc (Seat Belts). Roadkill stuff is entertaining, but one day those guys are going to wheelie/jump wrong wearing (at best) lap belts, and catch an eye/hootus on some jagged metal they have sawzalled, and...

get off my lawn. I can't believe this sort of thing can go on in our sue-happy society, and I'm thoroughly entertained. Carry on guys. If you're going to be stupid, you gotta be tough.

They are out on Motor Trend On Demand, haven't migrated to Youtube yet. You would have gotten Ep. 58 on Youtube on the 23rd, under normal circumstances, but they shifted the schedule around with the MCM episode coming out on both on Christmas day. My bet is that ep. 58 arrives this coming Friday. It involves Freiburger and Finnegan road-tripping a Datsun mini-truck to go buy Freiburger's dream car. And then Ep. 59 I think will be a real hit on this forum.

I'm the opposite. I think that a ridiculous power-to-weight ratio sled would be fun for about 20 minutes. The WRX OTOH loses a few hundred pounds while picking up power and gaining visibility and truckishness. A slightly more refined version of that has daily driver written all over it.

I mostly agree, but a Subaru Brat has been on my want list for a very long time, no need to add another subarute to the list!

Dude, now that you mention it, the Subarute need big stonkin' BRAT stickers all over the sides. Thing is, the BRAT, was USDM only. Aussies have no idea.

Well, the name BRAT was US-only. In Australia the vehicle existed but it was called a Brumby.

So I am impressed with how 'together' the MCM build was and conversely how 'hack' the RK build was. Seriously, they are at the Westec shop, which probably has enough parts to build 10 cars, and they couldn't find an alternator bracket or a welder and 15 minutes to weld up the diff? That and some big tires on the back would definitely make it more America.

Also, what does the red button do??

It was all very entertaining though. Good shows.

Edit: Hilarious how neither group bothered with an exhaust of any sort.

Honestly, they did a behind the scenes at Westech and the place is largely just set up for dyno work and engine building. There's enough intakes and cylinder heads and headers to build a few engines but no real parts for the rest of the car. And a lot of engines that get run on the dyno are either lacking accessories altogether or are already set-up, so I'm sure there are not a lot of accessory brackets floating around.

I think that the reason that they didn't weld the diff is that then they'd be likely to blow up something like a drive shaft. One wheel spinning is a great shock absorber.

This video sums up why I'm so conflicted about Roadkill. Their videos are certainly entertaining, and they do a lot with a little, but man.... I just hate stuff that's half-assed, and that's their whole MO. The MCM car was so much more complete.

Yeah, I love Roadkill, but they need to quit with the ridiculously short build times. They are not doing this part time anymore, they should keep it cheap, but finish the dam thing.

And as cool as that Impala was, I WANT a Subraute! so glad they didn't paint it that bronze color. Not sure about the turbo set up, but it looked great slammed with the wide wheels and fender flares.

While he does speak loud and I did it slightly grating too, remember this- every successful duo has the Mouth and the Brain.

Moog is the Mouth. The rooster with the "cockle-doodle-doo".

On RK it's Frieburger. He yells too. He's the Mouth, also kinda the brains, but that's what TEN pays him to be. Both Mike and Marty are reserved ppl. They make commentary, but not the rooster kind.

I mean, they are kinda stuck with the short times. Finnegan lives all the way across the country now and has to fly in for episodes. And Freiburger has to run a magazine, a website, organize the magazine events and make Roadkill Garage and all the other shows. So, it's amazing he can even find the 3 or 4 days to make a Roadkill episode. If you watch Roadkill Garage though, they do frequently take Roadkill cars on there and finish them up a little, like the Crop Duster has gotten pretty serious. The other thing is that the motto Freiburger and Dulcich espouse is "Don't get it right, just get it running" and that the second you have aspirations of making anything nice or doing things perfectly all progress goes to a standstill.

I wonder of Moog has hearing problems, which might explain his loudness to some extent. I noticed he would wear hearing protection when most of the others were not.

I chalked it up to him being a musician and not wanting to damage his hearing. He seems like he'd just be one of those naturally loud guys with no inside voice

They are both AV guys, so I imagine proper hearing is precious to them. I've never noticed his yelling, so now it will probably bug me.

He wasn't loud in person at least.
