Just because Hot Rods Drag Week was cancelled doesn't mean there ain't some drag racing going on...
Just in case anyone wants to watch everyday beginning at 4-ish ET... live free feed on bangshift.
I've already seen plenty of different brands besides the big 3 muscle cars.

I watched 1320Video's footage yesterday. Some quick takes: Seeing two cars run a 7.414 pass simultaneously was pretty amazing, even if the dude in the ZL1 immediately took back fastest time of the day with a 7.35. James Taal (from Cleetus, won the 8.50 class) is going to have a hard time overcoming that 8.72 on day one, but the car had the top end apart on last Thursday, hasn't really made a good pass on the new setup and caught fire being loaded on the trailer. Real scumbag move of Finnegan's, convincing Cleet to bring Leroy out when he wasn't planning to, and then breaking Blasphemi and dropping out on Day One.
I'm glad to see the Real Street Supras doing better so far this year. The white Supra hasn't had a great history with these endurance drag racing events but it seems like turning the car down to a low 8s pass (that car has gone mid 6s before) is working so far this year for them.
It sounds like the 1-2 shift linkage on Finnegan's car was installed upside down so he unknowingly launched in second gear and then shifted into first and Uncle Rodney put a dent on the inside of his oil pan. That car sure chews through engines.

Yeah, Blasphemi seems to be especially hard on engines. Finn doesn't seem to have figured out that just because it's a blown Hemi doesn't mean he needs to rebuild it after every run like a Top Fueler. I remember being so excited for Kall-Out Kings, where Jon Chase from Hoonigan called out Blasphemi. Turned out to be really underwhelming, because Chases's built 383 LS motor lost oil pressure on the dyno, so they had a stock 5.3 with a Magnuson blower plus a transmission and chassis that weren't sorted. And Blasphemi's engine was losing coolant somewhere and having some other gremlins. So it was a bunch of passes where one car let out early, or the other car bogged on the launch or one car didn't shift right.
The white Real St. Supra is actually supposed to be running 6s and 7s at this event. Its just that the track prep wasn't there and they said the car has basically sat parked for a year and even in testing it wasn't running as fast as it normally did. That car has potential to be fastest there, but I also think the white ZL1 is leaving a lot on the table to make it last. He went 7.35 at 197mph. That trap speed should put that car in the high 6s, so he's definitely soft on the short track.

The track prep in Tulsa seemed to be lacking quite a bit, Day 2 seemed better but not quite what most of the racers are used to.
Another character to follow along with is Mitchell Stapleton in the big, blue twin turbo AWD Escalade. That guy is sleeping in the back of his Escalade all week. Gangster!

I've seen that thing on 1320Video a couple years back. What an absurd machine.
It's weird that the track prep is not that great, because Hot Rod Drag Week ran at all these tracks, so its not like they are some backwoods strip that isn't used to fast, high power cars.
In reply to NickD :
I started following him on Instagram a couple weeks ago. He's straight forward, no BS, just a guy with a 427 twin turbo AWD Escalade trying to do dumb stuff and shares what he's learned about AWD LS stuff along the way.
I started to wonder if they were having issues with it being too hot and greasy when the sun is up and then when the sun went down if they were having issues with dew on the track. Nonetheless a strange issue to be having during a big event at big tracks.

Who builds his transfer cases and transmissions? Because that is a ton of power, weight and traction that he is throwing at them.
In reply to NickD :
He is allegedly running a stock transfer case out of a 2500HD gasser truck. I don't know how built his 4L80e is or who built that.

I believe he does. He has had a hell of a time with keeping driveshafts attached which ends up breaking something else. I too follow him on IG....
And track prep from yesterday showed the right lane was slippery garbage until the sun went down.

Some day I'd love to race him with my suburban built for way less money. lol
Some tough breaks on day one including Blasphemi and the 7 second Camaro that list a timing belt on the big end. I'm loving the mix of Drag Week and Race Week guys together.

That timing belt one really sucked. That was a screamer of a pass. You could tell that guy was just devastated.
Too bad they aren't coming all of the way west this year. I would have followed them for a couple days if they did. 2 of the strips are less than an hour from the house.
In reply to bmw88rider (Forum Supporter) :
They did earlier this year. This is the 2nd event that was literally just them picking up the dates from where Drag Week 2020 was cancelled.

I'm glad to see that the Motion Raceworks Grand Marquis is back and still running the fuel pump overclocked with an 18V cordless tool battery to make it have enough fuel pressure to keep it safe on nitrous.
cleetus running 8.09 and going to try to runs 7s the rest of the week

I will never get tired of hearing Leroy on a full rip pass.
I figured out how to bump thru the coverage on youtube last night so I can catch up on 3hrs of feed in roughly 45mins. Flip flopping the drive/race schedule really changes the way I follow along.
Tabscott in SBNA is local to me and I have quite a few hrs in on that car. He is fighting the track prep situation. 9.teens are right where it ran last DW, despite a round of upgrades that should have it running faster. Still leading the class by a full second.
The twin 7.41 pass was cool, but last night's double 7sec Supra pass was better. The green one must have cracked a head though. I read this morning he is out after filling a cylinder full of water when he shut the engine off.
