I don't want to give it away, but we're planning a story on safely towing a car.
So, uh, er... I need to find a roll bar or cage for the truck we're using, which I believe will be a 1990 F150. And, um, uh... it needs to actually be functional. No chrome "style" bars.
Any leads? A quick Google didn't bring anything up.
Anything using an old truck box as a structural member wont be all that functional. You need to go all the way down to the frame for a basic bar to protect you in a roll, check the NHRA rule book for more info.

Tell Dad you need to go to Kirk Racing for a few days.
If you end up wanting to have something fabbed, Browning Chassis here in Jacksonville does good work at modest prices. You may have a shop closer to home, though.

Yep, the Isuzu club taught me that. It's a whole new world!
I'm surprised nobody else has questioned why we'll need a roll cage for a towing story.
Why do you need a roll cage for a towing story???
Because you want to actually test the "safety" of various towing solutions.
that and JG has been watching The Fall-Guy re-runs again.

Although he won't look as good in Heather Thomas' bikini.

because you want to show how to properly haul 2 cars with only a 16 foot trailer hooked to a long box pickup, and need a rollbar that can hold 3000 pounds without crushing the cab?

They got them. Gotta dig around.

Because when you drop hints like this, everybody guesses, and all of the GRM staffers down in Florida go "nope, nope, nope!" and then laugh and say we'll see it in an upcoming issue.
So now we just wait for the issue in question to come out.

Had a fancy one in the Ranger. Well, one of um. Not at all functional. Probably, the best option would be to have it fabbed and welded to the frame.

Cool. Has a 4" polished aluminum driveshaft and a ported crankshaft.
The sad part: one of those was my first car, only it was dark green.
