For the truck project, a 1972 GMC.

The steps are, I gather:

1: Install rubber gasket around windshield

2: Put glazing putty in groove where the body pinch weld touches (outside groove)

3: Put rope in same groove, leave dangling edges after crossing, tape to inside of windshield

4: Put glass in place, slowly pull rope to seat rubber gasket on inside of truck cab

I get it.

But doesn't the glazing stuff (Which I do hear of people omitting, but I would like to include) get all over the rope and therefore all over the glass on the way out? Does it clean easily?

Any other tips or tricks are welcome.

In 15 years and well over 100 windshields, we have used a sealant exactly once. It was a situation where the correct rubber profile could not be found so the closest one was used.
