I'm in need of a new helmet thanks to my not so old Bell Sport acquiring a new resident in the form of black mold. It'll be cleaned up and turned into a fuel/pit stop helmet, I'd just rather not stick my noggin in something like that for an extended period of time.
Anyways, I came across the Roux R-1F. It's a reasonable price with a plethora of features, like integrated microphone and speakers, drink tube connection, etc. Just curious if anyone has had any experience with them and if the quality is decent.
Just got an R-1F about three days ago. We had Toto Lassaly from Roux on the show a few months ago and he brought some samples over and I was sold. I moved to it from an Arai GP-5W, which was my previous favorite helmet, and the Roux may even br more comfortable and more user friendly than the Arai which was about double the price.
The Roux is super personalizable with different size ear and cheek pads available. And the whole thing is just very well designed. With teh Arai I always had trouble doing up the chin strap with my HANS on because the straps were so weirdly sized. The Roux just works. It's user friendly, comfortable, and well-optioned. I'm a believer.
I’d say go with Black Armor, if you want the original design.
I purchased one last night. Winding road had 15% off and free shipping which meant $83 off. We'll see how it goes, most of the reviews i read were similar to JGs so I'm excited and can't wait to try it out.
The Bell I had was nice but the padding on it went to crap after a few races and was starting to irritate my forehead after about 10 minutes. I'm kind of glad it has a mold culture in it to warrant a new helmet purchase. Although I had to forgo my purchase of some fifteen52 wheels I've been wanting for my S2000 :(

Black Armor was my second choice. They're comfortable enough, but the fully-optioned nature of the Roux put them over the top for me.

JG I used their sizing guide to aide in my selection of helmet size. How does it match up? I've got a big head and they said if I wear a 7 5/8 hat to go with an XL which is the exact hat size I wear.

I went with a XXL and I have like a 7 3/4 head and it's about perfect. Dead on with a head sock. Generous but still safely snug without. I probably could have gotten into an XL maybe with some different cheek pads, but I have kind of a thick, short neck so the XX worked better on the back part of my head. I'm thinking the XL should be right in your wheelhouse. You might want to go with some smaller ear pads at some point as well.
I seen the contest on Roux Helmet how exactly do you say Roux? Rawk ? Unknown
