My local Ford dealer called me and said that they're expecting their first shipment of Focus RS's in January or February. It would be so cool to get it for my birthday in late January. That's actually a bit sooner then I expected.

Yes, all of those, but the torque-vectoring differential is what put me over the edge. Too many years of driving FWD cars with higher horsepower.

Nothing not to like guys, it really wasn't a dig, just meant to be real sure you're ok spending that kind of money on it. Personally, I'm not...but then I seem to be getting cheaper as I get older, lol.

Given how good the ST is I wouldn't miss an opportunity to grab one of these. If I hadn't already gotten myself an ST with all the tragic depreciation it has brought I'd probably be thinking about one of these.

Ford sucks right now. The Fiesta ST is an amazing little car, really awesome. BUT, for just a few thousand more, you can step up to the Focus ST. And if you are doing that, why not step to a 400hp IRS Mustang GT? And with some chump change, you can be in an AWD Focus RS with drift mode. And if you ask the S.O. nicely, you can scrounge up another few thousand and be in a GT350 that will outrun a Z/28. And heck, why not grab a Shelby while you are at it? Hey, that GT is almost in reach now.

Ford, you a cruel temptress who will have all my money...when I have some.

$15-20k or so. I've been looking. So they have been holding value VERY well since they were ~$30k cars when new.

I think the RS is a bargain for what you are getting, myself. But some people can't get over "oh it's just a Focus". Doesn't stop people from buying "just an Impreza" or "just a Mirage/Lancer".

I have heard from someone who drove a preproduction RS that there is AWD lag. Hopefully this is just a tuning gefuffle to be sorted out.

I really hope this has some AWD magic. I missed out on Evo VIII/IX when new and they are not great used buys, and the X added some bloat that just didn't appeal to me. While Subaru waffles on offering an FA motor STi and hatch WRX/STi period, Ford could really grab some market share if this thing is hot enough. The long thread about the RS on evolutionm.net is entertaining.

True, it's like 4X more expensive than the last car I bought. It's only the happy circumstance of paying off both my mortgage and the loan on my wife's van that allows me to spend this much.

People are guessing ~3400 lbs curb weight...I suppose that's reasonable in 2016. Evo X was knocking on 3600.

Huh. I kind of figured on more than that considering a FoST is over 3220lbs. It will be interesting to see some of the final numbers

I can't wait to hear some more driving reviews. I've almost got myself convinced that I really love my 300 horse, paid-for Mustang enough to ignore these, but....
