Guess you know what I am talking about now.

Anyway. I have been busy wire brushing down the surface rust spots on the car. Only issue I seem to be having it some looks like surface until I get it down to bare metal and see black pits appear which I assume is rust. That would mean it's getting deeper in the metal than I anticipated. I don't want to go further in some of these spots in fear of going all the way thru the metal. I have been doing it one at a time, compress air it, put on primer and then top coat gloss. Now, I am thinking I am defeating the whole purpose since several still has those black pits underneath them after removing the rusty orange/red off of them. Any advice or tips would be appreciated.

You're gonna have to go through the metal sometime. Either you do it now and fix it right or the rust will come back and eat through the metal and you have to fix it again.

I have used navel jelly to get back to shiney metal. Then use por 15 or the eastwood rust encapsulator. I have had good luck with it.
