I want an RX-8. Not sure why. Maybe it’s because I drove my buddy’s 2005 Shenka when it was brand new. Maybe it’s because I want RWD.

Either way, I already own a lowish mileage rust free 2g DSM Spyder but I’m just not in love with the car. Mostly because it’s a vert and not very usable for me.

Id like to sell or trade the DSM for a running rust free DSM but am I insane? Not a rotary guy. Long term plan would be to either 4g63 or LS swap it.  Thoughts?

DSMs still have a following for a good reason, so even though its a convertible top I think someone would still be interested- but you're REAL problem is gonna be getting a good RX-8 that has no rust AND hasn't been treated poorly. I think you're best bet is gonna be finding an RX-8 forum and going after someone whos selling theirs with threads showing proper care and maintenance.

Barring that, get a cheap one that runs and be ready to build/swap/get a new engine for it.

What kinda dsm, fwd or awd? Hopefully you already know about the rx8 explody engines. Which means you're nearly guaranteed to have to replace the engine on you're new purchase, so factor that into the price (which isn't cheap because it's a rotary.)

there's also a steep learning curve with rotaries and a steep part pricing. Factor that too.

A 4g63 RX8 would be really cool. Not sure how the sump would play with the rx8 subframe but hopefully you can figure that out.
