like usual - I drive back to the Chicago area to visit family and I drive back home with a new to me mazda. This is now the 5th mazda I have owned.
2009 mazda rx8 with 50k on it (manuel transmissiones por supuesto!)
the mazda6 sedan in the garage is my Dad's 4 cyl AT power! :|
no sunroof, HIDS and fog lights w/ cloth. Odd combination not sure if its a sport or a touring, overall good shape but needs plugs and oil changes.
I had a terrible experience at the dealer but I forgot all about it after some victory donuts later in the weekend.
It does have new tires but they are uniroyal tiger paws and these just won't do. Luckily the mazda6 wagon will donate its S1 rx8 wheels conti DWs :)
I was not thrilled about the silver in photos but in person it is muy bien.
Congrats, it seems to be "buy an RX8 weekend" .
I have considered replacing my E36 with a RX-8 with a rebuilt engine.
Gosh, I really want a series 2 RX-8.

Looks really nice! That is my favorite color on these beasts. Have been researching the conversion to LS power to take advantage of all the RX8's with blown Doritos...
The series two seems like a decent car overall. No sunroof is the way to go.

Yeah "all" of the S1 problems are corrected with the series 2.
I have been hemming and hawing over one for the last several years and now my commute is much shorter (but not too short) and gas is cheap and my job pays much more than prior so I decided to not be frugal with my money.
I didn't buy it cash (financing some of it) but the negotiated price was 12700. I think in 2009 these were 30k car range...
The S2 cars have mostly dried up in this area. Good purchase.
A local owner experienced side seal failure in his S2 after playing around in Mazda-edit a bit too much. I think the best thing with the RENESIS is to maybe give them a bit of 2-stroke but otherwise just leave them alone.
In reply to Brett_Murphy:
yup that's the plan add 2 stroke and don't modify it. Bilstein shocks and nicer brakes are in its future but thats maintenance items. Maybe a cat delete but I want to avoid the smell and CEL. Not sure how the S2s are in comparison electrically than S1s but it sounds like you can spend 2000 dollars for 10whp and have it be very loud. Not interested.
Yet people still complain Mazda got pretty much all of the power out of that engine that they could without adding forced induction.

Two questions. Can a child's seat fit in the back of one, and how daily driveable are they?
In reply to Storz:
I'm not sure about rear facing, but I have seen two forward facing kid seats in the back of one. If you have a commute that is long enough to get the engine warm, and don't mind getting 15-18 mpg, then they make great daily drivers. I dailied mine for ~3 years before I moved further away from work, bought a miata, and started tracking the 8.

Thanks. Commute is about 20 minutes each way, plenty of time to warm it up. A friend has one so I'll have to do a rear facing test fit sometime.

Would love a pic of a car seat in it as I'm 6'4" and have two young 84FSP's in booster seats...

I've had 2 car seats in the back of mine, one forward and the other rear facing, but it was a smaller rear only seat, those convertible ones are far too big to be rear facing in many, much larger cars anyway. Very doable as a daily, if you don't mind the mileage.

I've fit my son both rear-facing and front-facing in the passenger rear seat. Never did it with an adult in the front seat. I will potentially find out whether an infant seat (detachable base) will fit behind the driver in the next couple months.
They are very daily drivable.

Thanks Scardeal! I already got approval from Ms. 84FSP on the ride as she has always like the RX8's.
I'm 6'-3" and when both car seats were in mine, the detachable base infant seat was behind me and my 5'-10" wife was in the passenger seat with our son in the forward facing seat behind. Not necessarily ideal for long drives, but it's more than good enough for around town use.
Pro tip: take the seat backs out of the rear, it gives a couple extra inches of length, making it easier to fit the car seats with adults up front.
I've fit two of the three kids in my Rx-8 plenty of times with two adults, but I put the rear facing behind the passenger seat where my wife sits.

Just porting them shows big power increases. If you trust yourself, racing beat has templates you can use and do yourself.
