waiting for it to cool off a tad outside and then need to run to the store for a little more fuel line and hose clamps so I can finish buttoning up the fuel system...

also found the correct needed relays in the volvo's relay/fuse box so I decided to bench test the MS and my relay cable today... good chance I may get to start her this next week sometime

megasquirt is wired for spark woot... going update to the MSn-extra firmware tonight and going to try to get the truck all wired up tomorrow and see if I can't get spark off the dizzy and then maybe get the truck started... that would be so awesome :)

i've got a turbobrick but I didn't build it... it's fun :) http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/reader-rides/5816/ it's BEGGING for a good 5 spd gear box and a little more work on the suspension... right now i've been pushing 16psi or so and it's a hoot :)... need to drop the boost a smidge to save the trans though lol...

lol you're prob right john... I've turned it down a few times... only to turn it back up the next time I stop... it's just to fun lol... prob more than anything I Need to do the accumulator mod to the trans... help keep those clutches from burning up in the shifts....

anyway I couldn't sleep so I bench tested the dizzy... and tunerstudio picked it up perfectly... so I added the ignition portion (wow that mallory coil puts off some spark)

so it bench tests in all aspects... also forgot I mentioned that I finally got the tps on the TB (hack saw + jb weld method)

so I hope to get things together on the truck tomorrow and see what happens

got the sensors wired up and there is about a 10* temp dif between the GM MAT and the bosch coolant sensor... good bit of smoke (leaky turbo + it's sat for about 5 years) leaky intake... worst one was at the brake booster... I plugged those and the vac leaks quieted down a ton...

the turbo leaks so bad past the hot side that it blew oil all over the firewall (no exhaust... and no exhaust gaskets for that matter)

the wiring is UGLY right now... i'll get it perma wired here soon... along with the million mile long list of other things I have to do to get everything finished so it can be driven :)

Swap out the turbo for the 16T in the wagon.

i'm going to get it running with the 13h... more then 90% of the flow of a 15g... just because it's an untested turbo and I want to make sure it's good... if it is and the budget looks good i'll toss on the 16t :)... and then i'll get boost greedy (I know for a fact it'll push out 20+ psi with ease lol) and will kill the 9mm rods in my block... lol...which will mean I can go pick up a 90+ NA block from the JY and get a nice boost in c/r for that off boost power...

I just don't believe I got it wired up right and settings right so it would start 1st time out :)...

Way to go! It is always such an emotional boost to get a big project to run.

After all of the past projects you have had, it is great to see you get one to this point. You've done most of the hard work, now just all of the PITA details to follow.

Well done, I just like the premise of this project, B230T in an S10. Why the hell not. Fantastic. Keep up the good work.

lol it's funny how many people I don't know who know me from my mr2 project... lol... also my youtube still has the charger... I had that thing to the point that i could move it around the yard on it's own power... but $$$ for an alternator bracket stopped it from being a driver (then got sold to help fund a sudden move)

I figure if I can get this running/driving and I never get beyond that I'll have a win lol...

but yes now we're down to the PITA detail work... i'm looking forward to getting to put the body back on the truck just so it looks like a truck again

apparently the two of us do enough to bust his balls at any opportunity.

great work donalson, honestly when i saw the pics of the engine sitting there i thought "yeah he's gonna post in a few weeks that he sold it or scrapped it or something" - good on you for getting it running. that is always my big hurdle, i'm getting ready to make one of mine run later today for the first time.

honestly... i've kept the 2.5L around as long as I have so I didn't burn any bridges... I could have been driving this thing aorund months ago had I just done the HG on the duke... and that would have made mema happy (it has been in the family for over 10 years)...

i'm finally at a place that I don't need to move and have some time and have enough income going in that I can get this done... having a garage is amazing...

So much love for this forum! I cannot believe that there are other folks that think like me. You poor folks... I owned 91 GMC Syclone #327 for a while. It was a freaking giggle fest everywhere. If you have ever matted an all wheel drive vehicle in mid corner you'll always remember it. Sticks like glue...So in its honor may I humbly suggest an AWD conversion like from a Bravada.

there was mention/thought of that on the old forum when I was first trying to get this truck... I can only imagine how fun an AWD turbo truck would be :)

one of the best things about my current swap though is that I can revert to whatever standard engine swap I want down the road... unbolt the mounts and bolt in the v8 swap mounts and toss a v8 in... or a 2.5... or whatever...

haven't been posting over here about this much cause this isn't the build thread :)... and the fact that I haven't done much/anything all summer... to hot out in the garage...

so sold some stuff and have bought most of the last big things to get it running... got a 3" mandrel bend grab bag from ebay, ordered my wideband (went with a 14point7 SLC DIY2) last big $$$ thing is the driveshaft and I found a place that should be able to take care of that for about $100

this week or next going to finish up the trans mount... friend gave me some rubber from a snow plow blade (i mentioned needing to find a hockey puck and he said he'd used this stuff for body body lifts and stuff like that... super heavy/dense rubber)

mocked up my mandrel bends and should be able to get around the heater fan box with out a prob... but need to figure out how to make the exhuast joint (stupid 2.25" ball joint to 3")

so things are coming along nicely :)

after many more months of absolutely nothing happening...

I traded a guy straight up for a "flat flange" turbine housing for the tdo4hl turbo... they flow MUCH better and will be easier to build the exhaust for (stock uses a ball/socket type joint that requires some maddening work to get to 3" expectantly in the tight spaces i've got

got the 3" v-band in the mail today and now just need to have the flange welded to the turbo's turbine housing, have a turbobrick friend that's taking care of that for me....

now that classes are out for the summer I hope to spend a bit more time out in the garage... due to financial situation 2012$ challenge is unlikely this year but most of what I have to do to get the truck driving isn't to costly

I have those as promised, they are all together and ready for you to find transport.

My next trip that far probably the challenge so we need to find another way to get them to you.

at this point I doubt it'll make it to the challenge (or at least FOR the challenge)... so if it comes to it we'll work transport at that point...

that being said... if someone is going though fort wayne IN and coming towards FL let me know... have some parts that need transported :)
