So David and I were just looking down the sidebar on the site. We always try to have a good mix of interests and photos represented. We noticed that we had two cars very close to each other. Both shot from nearly the same angle. Both red mid-engine coupes. Thought it was funny such similar photos ended up so close to each other. So, if you could choose one of these to see in your driveway, which one would it be?
Presuming the SC MR2 is faster, it.
Can I sell whichever one I pick? Offloading that S660 would probably let me buy one of each generation of MR2, and that red one is too clean for me
In reply to ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ :
That's a fair point.
And Pete, if I learned anything from David's article on the S660, it was that it's not exactly a performance-oriented machine.
the S660 proved that the next small sporty car that Honda brings over needs to be mid-engine.

Gimme the mister. I've never had a honda be good enough to blow my skirt up. Plus, 4agze for my corolla when I invariably ball up the mr2

MR2 because I know I fit and I know they keep up with traffic. T-tops or sunroof, both sound nice.
S660 is weirder and I always go weirder.
MR2. Has more power, looks better (although the S660 isn't bad) and best of all, I can actually fit in it

I think you already know "the answer" to your question.
The MR2 also has the engine in the correct location driving the correct wheels. Nothing else to say really!
MR2. Because of parts availability. Difficult (although not impossible) to find parts for a car that was never sold here stateside.

But so does the S660:
Shows you what I get for not knowing what I was talking about! I just assumed because of Honda and their fascination with FWD layouts. And the fact that it looks an awful lot like a current Civic in the front. Still, I rather have the MR2.
I'm sure the 660 has better ABS and a lot of Tech over older cars, but why do you buy one? If I wanted a third car for weekends, scaring myself on off ramps and over nighters where all you bring is underwear and a toothbrush, I like the last gen Mr. Two over the one above or the 660.
If the videos I’ve seen about the Honda beat lead me anywhere, it’s the 660 I want.
I've noticed that newer chassis' tend to be noticeably tighter and more responsive than older ones (I suspect the engineering has to do with this, not just the old vs. new bushings). So, given that, I'd go with the S660 seeing as how it's basically a brand new MR2, if a bit shorter.
MR2 all the way. I would need a wedge and a can opener to get in and out of the S660.
Does it matter? You can't buy a S660. If you could one thing the S660 has going for it is that it isn't 30+ years old. MR-2 spyder might be a good compromise if you can find a decent one.
I'm just over Honda. They've been teasing us with things they will never bring to the U.S. for 20 years.

I do think that if the S660 had an additional foot of wheelbase and, say, 100hp, I'd be even more interested. But until an "S1000" shows up, it's just a fantasy, where as MR2's are here today. I love the S660 styling, the dash and interior in general, it all looks great. Just too small and a bit too slow.

MR2 is easy choice. Already owned two, including the SC I sold recently to a fellow member. I can see a 3rd in my future, probably a Prime Performance 4thGEN or a V6 swapped.
