Dilemma. Do I buy a 2015 rated helmet and have it for the next 10 years, or do I get a massive discount on a 2010 rated helmet and have it for the next 5 years.
I've had my current lid for 4 years and I'm pretty much done with it. Even with removable padding for washing it's still... Not clean.
Personally, I would go with the 2015. More money.......yes. Better safety......I assume so. In the long wrong it will probably save you money. The 2010s are discounted for a reason.
What are you going to use it for? Autocross? I'd take the 2010 and replace it with a 2015 in 5 years. It'll be so bumped, chipped, sweaty and nasty by that time, that a new helmet will be welcome.
Hillclimbs, road course, autocross, shenanigans

This.
With regular use helmets get nasty quick.
I haven't seen any massive discounts on SA2010's yet. Can you hook me up?
Here's some

those reasons are why I usually go with the short lived half life helmets … they're pretty raunchy after 5 yrs …

they'll start to show up as the '15's come on line
I have no idea whether there have been any actual safety improvements with the '15's, but I know the '10's were delayed by a year or so because they ended up having to recast larger shells for those of us with large melons. Used to be the bigger sizes just got less padding.
Anyway, I bet the '10's are very close in safety, and the difference in quality between a Bell and a Changs finest will probably be greater than the Snell improvement. I'd buy a high end '10 and get a '15 in '20.
Personally, I'll be waiting and buying the SA2015. I've owned an SA95 and an SA2005, and haven't had a problem with the helmet getting nasty inside. I wear a balaclava underneath it for anything longer than a 60 second autox run, so maybe that's why.
I'm in the same dilemma; I want a new Arai but they are fairly pricey. I replace my helmets every 5-6 years anyway, so it may well be a moot point but if I can get a smokin deal on a 2010 close out I'll do that.
