I just purchased an 04 Saab 9-3 Aero convertible with only 103k miles. What should i be looking for first? I have already changed the oil and filter, main water hoses and I am getting new tires this weekend.
What are the weak points? Besides the top, I know it has a leak as there is hydraulic fluid in the spare tire well.
Thanks in advance.
Auto or manual? They are not bad cars. The fiber optic audio system can do some weird crap and the top mechanisms can have issues (as you've learned) but overall they are pretty sturdy, comfortable, and not bad to drive. Turbo Ecotec, decent platform, and a much bigger aftermarket than you'd think.
Water pump. Not that it inherently has to go out, but what a job when it does.
Power door locks can get weak and need to be replaced.

Congrats on the purchase!
I will post pics later. I have always been a fan of Saabs. When I was a kid they were still two strokes and sounded so cool running at the ice gymkhanas.
Congrats, I think you'll really like it! (Pics or it didn't happen.) There are a bunch of good enthusiast sites with very helpful DIY info. My current go-to is saabcentral.com. Best thing I did on my sedan post purchase was to clean the throttle body and MAF. Perhaps more than most cars these respond well to being de-gunked.
