A friend of mine is considering looking at one, actually this one: http://evansville.craigslist.org/cto/1426654758.html I'll probably go with him, so I'd like to know if there are any common problems or signs of trouble I should look for. I guess really any info specific to that model would be appreciated.

Chk the drivers side ball joint other than that I have not had any other issues. Wait a minit I also had to remove oil pan and clean pickup.

my brother in law has what I think is a 95 turbo gOOSE, he's had to change a ton of stuff out over the 5 years or so he's had it. I'll only recount the stuff he's done twice, since I'd categorize those problems as chronic rather than just upkeep: ignition cassette, water pump, fuel pump, and A/C (which he gave up on).

Check the plugs, if they are not NGKs get at least $100 off for a new Ignition Cassette. Those cars do not have the sludge issues of the 2.3 turbo cars so you should be good there. Check all of the window switches, they are the only thing that has given me recurring issues. Every couple of years I have to take the switch pack out of the car and clean up the contacts. The ones I am refurring to are between the front seats.

My 2 cents would be to be prepared to swap out the tensioner for the serpentine belt ( when the bearing stops, the belt gets eaten...) and get two keys and remotes from the PO, some of those are $$$ if the anti-theft is set and you lose the clicker. The 2.0 turbo can get great mileage with your foot off the loud pedal, or run like a striped-ass monkey when you put your foot down ! if the seat motors don't work, there is a relay under each one, and sometimes both need to be good for either seat to work ( the relays are prone to wiggling loose) and Oh yeah, get the radio code too !
