So if you had one of these what would you be doing with it? Assume that it has been outside most of its life. I may have a line on one or three and am not sure if I want to take this on or not.

if it has been outdoors all it's life... the metal chassis is probably swiss cheese. First thing I would do is seperate the chassis from the body and use it as a template for a RWD locost style chassis that would bolt up under that beautiful body.

I would keep it saab powered.. either a TC V4 or a later H series Turbo from a 900 under the nose.

The hardest part would be keeping the transtunnel small and relocating the gas tank

I'd pass and get a 95/96 that hasn't rusted into the ground.

As noted, rust is a big issue.

Here's an article that you may find useful:

Perhaps "Subrew," whose step-father has an especially strong affinity for these little cars, will chime in here; he, too, has some experience with them...

I guess I should mention that the above picture is stolen from the internet. Also, The one or ones that I am looking at are all in various states of completeness. The guy has a decent one that is kept inside but the other three are all parts cars. My thought was similar to what mad machine was suggesting. Tube frame or similar with a donor power plant inside.

There was one at the PVGP last weekend with the roof cut off, it looked cool.

I prefer the III cars over the II with the V4... they really uglified the hood on those models
