SAE World Congress - smaller than it used to be?

Maybe it's a sign of getting old. I went to World Congress in the early 90's and remember it as being a mega event with eleventy billion supplier booths. This year it looks like 125 or so vendors. I was planning to go talk to brake pad manufacturers (work product related) and most of the names I know in the parts business (brakes and otherwise) are not listed. Is my mind playing tricks or did this whither from 1000 vendors to 100?

the heyday of the "sport compact" scene ended in the early 2000s.. it's been downhill ever since as smaller companies went out of business or were bought out by larger ones

I only go for the lectures, i think those have been better year over year.
