I love a good auction, no better place to see a huge variety of cars. If you like car shows, this to me is worth the entry fee. I'm told this auction is the only one in the world run totally by volunteers.
I worked Friday & Saturday, Trish worked the beer booth Friday and got an education. First, the beer booth was a 1959 Chevy panel truck with six taps coming out the side, but guys buying a $5 beer with $100 bills was an eye opener. After a few trips they get chatty, one guy just bought a Shark Nose for his 16 year old. She really wanted a VW Bug that didn't sell at $15,000, said she would offer 10. I don't think she understands that if the guy wouldn't take $15k, he wouldn't take 10.
I fell in love with a 1947 LaSalle coupe' black with red interior. Later when I was parking sold cars, a guy went to it and poked around, started to open the hood and before I could embarrass myself, he pulled out papers - the new owner. (hmmm...he looks familiar). He started rattling on about cars, he's got a Marlene, a something else, collects Cadillacs, got a Caddy pickup! I asked if he lived on so & so road, "Well yeah, but ...." I'm the guy that sold you the black flower car! We talked a bit, looking under the hood he asked if it can be converted to 12V. Seeing two big white resistor blocks on the fire wall, I suggested it already was. The resistors drop 6V down for the gages. Jealous he paid $20k for the car.
