I've lusted after a 6-series for decades. Now that I'm all busted up I find one at Challenge pricing in my own town...

Fix it. Make it look gorgeous and handle well.
Then add massive amounts of boost.
Make sure it isn't rusty. The body panels were ridiculously expensive the last time I looked. Mechanicals are easy.

Re-route exhaust through hood with tractor-style flapper and spare injector for massive flames. Terrify neighbors. Rust is light.
fixed.

More like 200-215 as far as i know...
3.3 was 181bhp, 3.5 was 184bhp IIRC; Euro spec was higher. It's adequate for the intended use of the car, and plenty to get you in trouble, but not a lot by modern standards.
Buy it. If it's relatively clean, make an awesome DD. Megasquirt and exhaust to open up horsepower.
If it's thrashed, strip it and track it. Megasquirt and no exhaust to open up horsepower. :-)
All hail the gorgeous 6-series.

Before you jump on that one, there's a 635 listed for sale on bimmerforums.com in the regional (Carolinas) forum. I know nothing about the car or owner except for what I've seen on bimmerforums.com. I had a 633 (actually bought it for my spouse). I liked it quiet a bit,she didn't. Sold it to a neighbor down the street for his son's 1st car. He kept it 3-4 years & got an e36M3.
I've got an '84 733. Has about 270k and the slushy has been problem free. 83-84 had a 4 speed auto with a lock-up converter. Change the fluid and filter every 60-80k and NEVER rev it up in neutral or park after shifting into gear and it will last forever. The 85 and newer are electrically controlled and had a mod to eliminate that problem. Mine has been rock solid.

Be happy in your folly and embrace the debil.

Huh?
The transmissions achilles heel: revving when not in gear "can" be death to the ZF sourced transmissions. (I believe 4HP22)
It was the later 3.5 engine that made 200+ hp, and it's a super easy swap. They LOVE boost, but there are tons of other swap options: other BMW engines, LS1 etc. Nathan

I can see how you would be tempted by such a detailed and well written ad.
I know it is a $1500 car, but really, do you think that he could have described the car a little better than "good project car"
Buy it for half that, borrow my trailer to get it home...let it languish a few years (or until my divorce is final) and then sell it to me for half of what you paid.
By that time maybe I'll be able to afford an LSx drivetrain and the time to stick it in there.
Or...you could skip the part about languishing and I can drink beer while "helping" you work on it.
Or any combination thereof.
