Yesterday, while driving back to Tn. from Fl. I saw a new Fiesta sedan coming towards me on I-75. It looks like the Taurus you see in all those ads for the SHO....but sort of "smushed up" like it had been inside a car crusher for a quick trip. Why anyone looking for a small sedan or hatchback would buy the Yaris, Versa, or Accent after seeing this car is beyond me.

I think you just explained why i WOULDN'T buy one.
I don't understand why anyone would buy this as a sedan. I'm also frustrated that Ford is putting a dual-clutch tranny in instead of an automatic BUT NO MANUAL CONTROL! WTF?
Yeah, I'm ticked that Ford is offering this as a sedan and a 4/5 door hatch instead of the "original's" 3 door hatchback at least in the U.S.. Unfortunately, folks still prefer, or SEEM to prefer sedans or hatches. The sedan is the "entry-level" model of the Fiesta. Also, if you go to the Ford website and build and price a Fiesta, you will see that some of the "best" colors and options are only available on the top model.
And as far as the dual-clutch, but no manual control....my only GUESSES are:
it's a cheap way to get a high(er) tech automatic into this segment....and price is critical here,
and the other reason is that most folks won't care if it has a "tiptronic-type" automatic...or not. Just whether this car has the auto option (which the first Fiestas never had).
