In my mind the Camaro has always been the loser in the looks wars.. except for the first gen. So it's only fitting that the new one is so polarizing. If you can look at a 4th gen Camaro and swear on a stack of bibles that it's a good looking car, you either have a mullet or had one at some point. They're (relatively) cheap speed but not pretty.
Oh, give it a rest for Pete's sake. The Camaros have always been pretty attractive cars. The 1st gen obviously, the 2nd gen as well(especially in RS guise) with its Pininfarina styling cues, is also a looker. The 3rd gen was striking for its day, and still holds up well as a clean, performance orientated design. The 4th gen, was again, an aggressively penned sports coupe. It was not very good at interior ergonomics, but generally considered an attractive design-especially for its price point and market segment.
The latest design has a few minor exterior flaws(notably the plastic grill on some models and the awkward tail light design). The rest of the car is quite attractive and sales have been strong. This car has also been praised by many in the industry as a strong design.
All the mullet references really become tiresome after a bit. Considering the new Camaro ZL1, is by all accounts, a simply stunning track performer and features the most advance shock absorber system on the planet(for combining track and street capability), offers fantastic, usable speed, and is easily serviced nationwide-all at a good price point, leads me to believe the naysayers in this post simply hold a bias against Camaros.
Content to tinker with clapped out, ancient Japanese designs and even more dismal Euro crapcans long past their "use by date", these poor folk simply can't comprehend a Camaro that will annailate them all-even on their beloved roadcourses.

i rather like the 4th gen Camaros- especially the 98-02 versions.
the 5th gen is one of those cars that looks good from about 30 feet away, but just starts to look goofy as you get closer.

The ponycar war is on. This is a good thing.
It also doesn't hurt that the ZL1 sounds B/A in person.
there are no pony cars out there- these are the Clydesdale car wars.

The biggest problem for me with the ZL1 is that the Corvette Grand Sport exist. The Grand Sport doesn't cost much more, is better looking and you can see out of it.
Beauty is definately in the eye of the beholder.
Show me a fox-body mustang that looks good.
Or any mustang other than the original Mach 1

change the wheels and lower it a bit, and the 87-89 Mustang LX Notchback 5.0 is a pretty damn good looking car.. the 90-93's look similar, but they added an airbag to the steering wheel and just totally wrecked the interior by doing so.
this particular one has the mandatory cowl induction hood on it that every Mustang owner feels like they are obligated to get, but they look much better with the stock flat hood.

Eh, looks are subjective.
But, an SVO, Saleen, State SSP Notch, SAAC Mk car or a Kenny Brown edition looks good to me. ( particularly fond of the '89 Saleen SSC ).
As far as the new stuff....just glad that they are being built.
The new Camaro makes me vomit uncontrollably.

I'm in the "happy these cars exist in 2012" camp. I could almost see me buying a Mustang... but the Challenger still catches my eye the most. I've never been a big GM fan, but I don't have any issue with the new Camaro any more than the others (weight).

That required discussion?
I didn't say the 4th gen (or any Camaro, for that matter) was a bad car, I said it wasn't pretty. And it's not. The fox bodies aren't, either. None of them have aged well. I have no problem knowing the ZL1 would annihilate my car on a track. I'm way too cheap to buy something that fast.

That thread should have been one post long.
First post: "Fergie is ugly."
No further argument necessary, Your Honor.

I disagree. There should have been a reply reprimanding the OP for being too kind.

"ergie is Fugly?"
Still too kind, but I'd let that one stand.
which Fergie?
the one that was royalty or the one that hangs out with those 4 weird guys and makes crappy music?
why is it.. out of the current crop of "pony" cars.. the one I like the least.. (I am being nice) is the one with the nicest taillights? I am talking about the Charger.
The Challenger is Dodge's pony car, not the Charger.
sorry, my bad... but it does not help that it is still my least favourite
You want to hear what I'd like? Okay so nobody does but I'll share it anyway; Chryco dusts off the Crossfire platform, restyles to something like their current Challenger but keep the size the same. Hatchback or convertible, two seats, and slides in the 3.6 Pentastar V6 with a manual or automatic trans. Every item of Daimler electrical & controls engineering goes in the dumpster. Use new found ability to create interiors that are nice instead of not nice.
Call it a Barracuda.
