Actually I saw three, all in the same color, tooling around southeast Michigan.
I was not a huge fan of it from photos, but I think it looks worse in person. Lots of matte black plastic, busy lines, a huge emblem "tramp stamp." On the plus side, it does look more svelte than the C6, and the tail lamps aren't bad at all.
Many design elements not well integrated.

I don't.

This. Chevy got away with taking the new Camaro directly from concept sketch to rolling monstrosity, so I have to say I was not hopeful for the next 'Vette.
I want to see more of the convertable. It's honestly a moot point for me to complain about a car I can never afford, mind you.
I think I still prefer the looks of the C6 but there's something I like about the C7...it's like the '80s trend of wildly futuristic styling is coming back. Still if I were choosing on looks alone, for my money I'd prefer the classier looks of a C6.

I fixed that.
The C7 looks like a Ferrari. And not in a good way.

The styling of every Vette has had to grow on me before I appreciated it, so the C7 doesn't bother me any.
..."tramp stamp" rear emblem... funny.
The C6 is the first new Vette I've lusted over in years. Well, specifically, the Z06. From pictures I like the new Vette in certain angles, but the rear end isn't one of them. Overall I have to agree with those that say it's busy looking and has too many poorly integrated design elements. But I'll hold judgement until I see one in 3D.

And most if not all of those '80's designs didn't age well.
That's sad. Most of GM's designs are reasonably handsome, but dull. Looks like they got away from both the dull and the handsome.
My first thought in that shot was that except for the Camaro tail lights it looked quite a bit like a new model Ferrari.
that is one thing I like about the Detroit area - when I travel it for sales I usually see stuff not seen in the Chicago area.
The new Corvette looks nice - however my pocket book is back to the 1984 used $2,500 clapped out versions. Kinda like me ever having a chance at dating Megan Fox.
that rear end is a hatchet job
I see some design queues from the Volt in that rear end. And that is the worst part of the Volt in my book.

Ahh, that was you that texted me the pic. Yours is one of the phone numbers in my phone that the caller ID shows the number, not the name, and since the advent of the cell-phone I can't remember any phone numbers.
I don't like it. The new 'vette is the automotive styling equivalent to typing with caps lock on.

In a way, the hot-cold opinions about the C7 are good. Like it or not, the car seems to generate an opinion whereas the last cars really didn't other than their performance capabilities and general comments about interior quality. As good as the C5 and C6 cars are, the styling was well... "unoffensive" and didnt' take any chances. You either liked Vettes in general and liked the cars, or you didn't and didn't care.
I think it's good GM designers are trying to be bold with the styling.
I disagree, I've seen the C7 up close in both hardtop and convertible at NY auto show and at the ALMS race of Long Beach. I like it
I saw one on 696 last week, black. Not too shabby
The back end is too tall for my liking, but I think it's one of those designs that will grow on people. It looks so different from the last gen (which everybody likes) that I think it's too much at once.
It definitely looks more exotic than the C6, at least right now.
I've been trying to withhold judgement until I see one in person, but yeah, that sucks almost as bad as the Camaro. My spidey-senses tell me the fit & finish is probably abysmal. As far as modern vettes go, I really dig the looks of the C5 Z06.
To me it looks like it's just trying to be too many things at once. Part viper/part ferrari/part BRZ. Nothing that screams "VETTE" other than the big doofy emblems.
I will say this.
It did not look cheap in person. In fact it looked much better quality than older vettes to my plebian eye.
I would love one but a C5 Z06 is more my price range :)

Strange, I glance at it and it keeps morphing between recognizable styling points from about half a dozen different cars.
