Asking $5000, but its straight as an arrow, and has 43,xxx miles! Just thought I'd share!
Oh, man. I'm melting a bit. That would be sooooooo cool with a 2.3 turbo and T5. Damn. Could haul the mail and haul a bunch of other crap too!
I so wanted one of these when I was 16. I was dreaming of brown with Creager wheels.....Sometimes it is nice when dreams don't come true....
When Pinto wagons first hit showrooms, I went and test drove one. Like this one, that wagon had the 2 liter engine and automatic transmission. Living in W.V. I can see why it has such low mileage (assuming the odo has not rolled over at least once), driving these in an area with hills...much less mountains is NOT fun. Acceleration on anything but level roads should be measured with calendars instead of stopwatches. That said, this is a nice example and since I live in Florida it wouldn't have any steep hills to climb.
Buy this and perform that (necessary) engine swap to a turbo or even a small block V8 as soon as possible.
I think I showed this to the wife a few weeks ago and she shot back this puzzled I-dare-you-you-will-be-divorced-over-this-car look.
I mean what is not to like about this car? It's a wagon. It has fake woodgrain. It needs a loving home.
My Dad bought a new one in 1976. A 1976 Ford Pinto Squire wagon. It was white, with a manual transmission. Pretty sure it was a 5-speed. Engine was the 2.3. I drove it a few times. It was slow, and handled more or less like a loaded barge--even when the car itself was empty. I really don't have any desire to own one, but that blue one is in remarkable shape. My Dad's was pretty rusty already by 1985 or so when he was hit and the car was totaled. He did okay though, just bumps and bruises.

I would not waste my time on the T9. The T5 is such a better transmission

Ugh, wish I had an old xr4ti to trade you, my girl and I would love to have a nice turbo probe.
My sister had one almost exactly like that back in the day. I think hers was a '75, but i was a really nice dark metallic blue (with a lot of metal flake in it) and the woodgrain. The interior looked exactly the same. I loved it, but I didn't know much about cars back then.
I like the Probe, but I've wanted an XR4ti since i was in elementary school. One of my cousins friends has a blue one that i thought was such a neat looking car! Almost bought Les's when I was in FL, but it had a headgasket/head problem so he didn't wanna sell it to me not in running order.
