I've got a better idea, how 'bout we kill the Taurus and bring the Falcon over here?

That said, I wouldn't kick a new SHO out of the garage.

Mustangs and Falcons sharing a platform--heresy.

I have conflicting thoughts about the US getting an Oz falcon. On one hand, it makes sense to make it a world platform and to have everywhere in the world. But we've seen this same thinking (Oz car in the USA) fail more than once and from multiple name plates. I for one, have actually sent an email from Fords website asking for the Falcon here in the states.

the idea is that individual platforms for multiple markets is nto a good business plan, especially with the limited market fo the falcon. But on a future revision, a new platform that could underpin the falcon, Mustang, and taurus is viable, as you can set up a platform to be RWD or AWD (since the Taurus has an AWD option now) and in differnt lengths. Sharing platforms doesn't mean rebadges, and it also doesn't mean going backward.

A couple Aussies I know think that this means that the Falcon would get the chassis from the Taurus of two generations ago ALONG WITh it's old 3 liter Vulcan V6.

So I take it that I'm the only person here that misses having a '99 Taurus with the 3L Vulcan

Possibly the only person anywhere, in fact.

Naw, they were pretty solid cars, IIRC. Just kinda unloved. And not up to the standards of the Falcon.

Ford N.A. gave up on it's firstborn long ago. Can't have the Falcon return to the nest and compete with it's new Mustang baby for sales.

I would personally forsake the Mustang in a heartbeat for any FPV Falcon.

So have I. I think it would make a great cop car too, and I'm surprised that ford doesn't seem to want any more pieces of that pie. Since crow vics are no longer in production, all the police departments around here are switching to chargers. A falcon would have to be a much more durable car for that kind of use.

I thought crown vics are still be produced but just as fleet vehicles?

I agree.. bring the Falcon here, share it's underpinnings with the Mustang (maybe on a shortened floorplan?) and reap sales across the world.

Sounds like a winning plan to me

"World cars"

original Model T

GM's Chevette

Ford's Escort

Ford's Focus

car known as Cadillac Caterra

car known as Pontiac GTO

car known as Saturn Aura

Hit's(?) and misses.....and yes, I probably missed a few.

But considering the original Mustang was Falcon-based, this seems like a decent idea.
