Not some much... It was at 31* but it seems that my distributor only has 10* of advance at total so it was driving okay. Still not safe for the track.

That's what my 302 liked, when I had a mechanical distributor. Did you hook up the vacuum advance?
If I ever have another car with a carb it will get a MSD 6530. Lock the dizzy at the max advance that you will ever need then program the amount of retard at each rpm.
