no, not another Versus thread. I want to get a nice little obdII compatible scantool that I can leave plugged in permanently so I can also use it to monitor my engine's hidden workings. I currently have an OBDII Bluetooth box plugged into the port and use my phone, but it would be nice to have something that is always there whenever I go anywhere.

I know that Scanguage is easier to upgrade through reflashing, but the UltraGuage is cheaper. Anybody have any experience with either?

I have the ultraguage. The menu system is a little clunky but I went with it primarily because of the larger display. I really like it.

my OBD2 bluetooth box is tiny, I leave it in the truck all the time (my wife is usually using it). I just link up with Torque Pro app ($4.95) on the phone and it does pretty much everything that a scanner does.

If you buy the Pro version it does a lot more than the free version. I basically have it to monitor my tranny/torque converter temps when towing (not available in the free version), but it also reads codes, clears codes, etc etc.

Then again, my phone is always with me when I'm in the car, which doesn't sound like it's the case for you (?)

Even though my phone is always with me, I don't necessarily want to tie it up with Torque. So I bought a buddy's old Android something when he upgraded.

One nice advantage is that since it's a deactivated phone, I never get ads in the app

I have a scangauge. I had it permanently mounted in my GTP. I found it very useful.

I have an old android hooked up with torque.. It is a great system, but it is a bit clunky to start the car, turn Bluetooth on, start the app, click ok.. and finally be able to see something. It works, but I wanted something more polished
