Found a budget friendly motorhome which is a 79 ford van with the 460. Needs the power steering pump replaced. Pain in the arse, or simple?

I think the only thing that would make it a pain is the packaging of that motor in a van chassis. Access might be finger-mangling without removal of unrelated items.
In my '90 (same body) van with a 302 it was on the lower driver's side of the engine. Appeared to be more accessible from below. Not sure where it is on a 460, but probably similar. One advantage of the Ford van engine bay is it was designed for a straight 6, so there is actually a decent amount of room in front of a V8. Get a shop manual and follow the directions. I doubt it's any more difficult that any modern FWD car.
