I, myself like big pickup trucks. I like small pickup trucks. I like trucks that have been lowered and trucks that have been lifted. I really don't give a rats ass if you or anyone else doesn't.

I don't own a truck. Haven't for many many years and never actually paid for one. (recovered 2 old dodges from fields and fixed them though)

I rented a brand new F150 to go on a major parts run to Alabama. 14 hour drive. I have to say for a "work type" vehicle, It was comfy on the highway. They have come a long way. Do I ever need to own one every day? Heck no. I don't tow. I don't haul often. I have to say though if I did, I would be like every other person in my neighborhood and have one of those big boys sitting in my driveway.

I'll agree with that as well.

I also agree my main issue with people driving trucks is a lack of knowing where their corners are, but that is a problem for a lot of drivers regardless of the vehicle they're driving. Even my ex-, who is a pretty good driver, had trouble wrapping her head around how close I would get to the edge of the road. "Why do you do that?" she would remark as I was driving my 4x4 Cummins down a two-lane road, less than a foot away from the guard rail... "Because I can..."

I dont believe everyone catches the drift... its not that we dont like trucks, I know we have all used/needed/owned one or multiple at some point. Its the idiotic mindset that everyone needs a truck when they clearly do not. I live in the deep south where its ingrained in our youngins minds they need a truck to be cool where most these men (and lots of women) drive these massive things for whatever reason when they clearly would have trouble piloting a miata or corolla down the same strip.

Side note, im sure yall see the same across the nation but I love seeing big lifted trucks with powdercoated susupension bits that havent had a speck of dirt on them (from not being used) when I have clumps of mud falling off my miata. Oh it takes a lifted 3/4 ton diesel to traverse the rigorous asphalt? Do tell me more

Don't hear truck owners complaining. Think I'll drive the new Tundra today instead of the FRS.

I enjoy driving all sorts of vehicles and generally respect other people's choices. I reserve my disdain for bad drivers and the coal rolling brigade. However, around here, bad drivers are found in every kind of vehicle, even, gasp, Miata.

Who the hell cares what someone thinks they NEED. And how on earth can you or anyone else truly tell what someone really needs just by driving past them on the road.

I'll say it again: I'm amazed at the super-power of being able to tell what a persons needs are from a distance. Not only that but you can lump thousands of families into the same group. Oh, and don't forget the gall it takes to try to tell someone what they should drive.

You have about a 90% or greater chance that if a truck is lifted with the wide tires/wheels......it is NEVER used as a truck.

What I think is funny is half the people who own them convinced themselves that they "need" a truck. Meanwhile SOMEHOW people in Germany when I was there managed to exist without a truck.

Yeah, I finally realized a V8 4Runner would do 99.9% of the things I needed to do, and I love it so much more than my truck. Doesn't get much better mileage, but somehow it's less offensive.

I'd be interested to know how many of the people saying trucks are unnecessary have actually owned one for any length of time.

After having one for many years, and then selling it and going to just a sedan and a minivan, there are many times where I wish I still had a truck.

It's the right tool for the job many times, and even when it isn't the right tool it does a pretty good job.

It's easier to get groceries, commute, or drop the kids off with a truck, than the alternative of trying to get mulch, drywall, or tow anything bigger than a small uhaul using a hot hatch or other GRM approved car.
