I will politely state you are incorrect, and mention that our horsepower versus the motions involved with autocrossing caused a failure that was categorically not there 5 days earlier when the car was manually aligned and closely inspected.
"Quasi Does Show" was an amazing addition to our team with his stabilizing and methodical approach to the events and issues that developed. From running after us, helping us stay on point, doing our autocross duty, to making our tires look amazing for the Concourse. We would not have achieved as much as we did without his addition.
Teh Lonald put the car together mechanically and did all the bodywork, paint, custom touches including many items of weight reduction, if nobody noticed some of these were exceptional, the trunk, hood and doors were gutted, the shifter was drilled, the rear panel and valance were smoothed, the windshield had all the locks and aluminum for the non existant roof to be attached removed, this alone took 3 days due to the excessive heat to an aluminum frame. The standard of his work and the months of labor he applied to the project were simply above and beyond, he cannot receive enough recognition.
Andrew inspected the car and found several places where we had problems, in his always generous manner he advised us where the problems were and monitored their corrections. Thank you Andrew, I was serious when I asked you to join us on stage

Hopefully John gets my sense of humor about my "under-engineered" cars rant that he had to sit through... I never for a second truly doubted that every inch of that altar was meticulously worked over!
I don't have a good place to say it, so I'll say it here.
J.G should really state the team name when he is announcing, instead of the name on the registration. The teams build the car.

Yea we were laughing at "Michael Stamps" coming up to the line while I sat in the stands.
talking to Stan Dorsey about his super cool truck, and its appallingly low concours score. I then went back through the individual concours judges' scoring sheets, and while the vast majority of the judges' handwriting was input correctly, a few cars (including Stan's truck) had incorrectly recorded scores. I went through the sheets again and personally entered every car's score, and it is now correct. Stan now has a new finishing position (18th overall).
The first scoring mistake had me way down from my 'real' finishing position after the concours correction. When i read this quoted section i vaguely hoped a mistake had been made on my concours score as well, until i got to the end of the paragraph and found out that Stan's correction had actually bumped me DOWN a spot (to 19th). Hooray.
Well, I lost one spot too after the score correction, as the 280z leap frogged me, but hey, I can still tell all my buddies that I finished in the top ten!
I just hope whoever writes the story for magazine at least gives me a little credit for being the highest finishing zero prior experience participant.

Sorry. Im glad the top 10 didn't shift down, as I'd have felt mildly bad about moving up and bumping someone from the top ten. I just jumped 10-8.
Your car was awesome. I got so excited when i saw an opel gt nose sticking out in the parking lot Thursday night. I'd always wanted a GT or a Z car, ended up with the Z first

Heh, i'm still way up from where the initial score report had me. I still finished top half in a minivan. Only tenths off the AutoX time of an ND Miata. It's not exactly in the spirit of the event but i might be eligible for a theoretical award for highest finishing car with ZERO concours effort at all. The van was literally 'as seen in my daily life' except for the newly dented door and broken mirror from the blowout i had on the way to Gainesville.
Your car was very impressive, congrats on the strong finish!
Looking at the corrected results, doesn't that make Stan D the "Top finishing Ford"?

I actually love the old Z cars too. I think the early ones had quite possibly the best looking dash board/instrument cluster ever made, and as you've shown the added bonus that a V8 looks right at home under the hood.

I'd say, Stan's truck is more Ford than the F-350!!
BigBen, I loved your car. Thanks for letting me sit in it and pretend I was racing it. (It did seem like your wheels were too tall though. That's the one change I would make if it were mine.)

Yeah, the ones I had on it are not my ideal size, but they were what was available at the right price. I may try to look for some 15" wheels instead of 17", but then I'll likely be stuck with 205's for width, since anything wider in a 15 seems to be quite pricey. Check out the photos in my garage with my daily driver wheels on it with shorter tires.
